I found this site while doing some research on the net. As much information as I found doing a search, I couldn't find exactly what I needed. Anyway - I decided to buy a 91 4runner that threw a rod. It is from Cali, so there is no rust anywhere and the tires only have 5k on them. I've worked on all kinds of stuff, but never a 4runner. This one has the 3.0 6 cylinder in it. I found a good shortblock from my brother-in-law for free if I pull it. I took a look under the hood and it doesn't exactly look like a cakewalk to swap this engine. Any advice from the guys who have done it? I'll buy a manual, but sometimes they aren't worth too much for jobs that big. TIA to anyone who can help out.

Do you wanna put a 3.0 back in it, or swap in the (preferred) 3.4?

Here's an online version of the 1993 FSM. It can help with particulars. You might want to get a Haynes Manual from a local parts store, also.
