3.0 to 3.4 upgrade?

Howdy.

I recently threw a rod on my 1995 4runner (V6, 3.0, 4WD) and am shopping around for a replacement engine.

I know that the 3rd gen 3.4 engines are deisrable but I don't know if putting a 3rd gen engine into a 2nd gen engine compartment is possible. Anyone have any experience doing this?

Are the bolt down attachments in the same location? Will it even fit into the compartment? Is there different firmware for the emissions computer? I'm trying to do as much homework as possible before I get into this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One of the 4x4 mags did a write up on this a few months back. I think just battery location, and wiring harrness are the only things you need to change IIRC. The trany and motor mounts are the same.

I dont know much about it, but it is defitnaly do able I have seen big v8 chevy motors in old toyota trucks, so im pritty sure the 3.4 will fit no problem!

Yeah its not uncommon. But alone with that upgrade isn't a stong enough word.
