Dual battery pics and info

What secondary battery holder do you guys use that are currently available for 4th Gens?

I’m wanting to setup a second battery in my 4th Gen with a Blue Sea ML-ACR #7620 or #7622300.

I’d love to see what you guys have done, what battery holder & size battery you can make fit or should go in, wiring etc…

For accessories, I have a sound system, winch, a bunch or lights, will be a fridge at some point, and who knows what else.

Looks like there should be plenty of room in my V6 engine compartment

I’ve done searches here for Blue Sea, chargers, dual battery, second battery etc…. And not really any luck on this forum with that info. I know there are people here that have done it, but don’t recall which members.

Dual Batt

Originally I had this set up in my 07 FJ and removed it to install here on my 08 T4R V8 after adding my winch. I used a Hell Roaring battery isolator (Hellroaring Battery Isolator Combiner, BIC-75150A) and it has worked flawlessly for 15 years between both vehicles. As you can see I moved the power steering reservoir and removed the original windshield washer bottle. I installed two Dorman tanks (ShieldSquare Captcha)( Upper left corner of pic) bolted to some old knock down shelving bracket steel, then connected the hoses at the bottom of the tanks to the washer pump. I extended the wires to the pump motor also. I used a scrap piece of aluminum (3" X 8"X 1/4") as the platform for the battery and bolted it to some existing holes down in that corner. The hold down is kind of funky but it works. The battery isolator has an optional switch that allows you to connect or disconnect both batteries manually (mounted in the cab). Both batteries are charged automatically regardless of the switch position (always charging both)

Well I wasn’t able to find a nice battery holder from anyone that still made them for the 4th Gen unfortunately. A lot of nice ones for the 5th Gen’s and up of course.

I used an inexpensive one off Amazon and just drilled some holes and used some plastic spacers to sort of level and elevate

Bought a 25’ length of 1/0 welding cable from a welding type shop and have used about 21’ so far. After I finish my big 3 upgrade I’ll have used probably around 24’ so about perfect

I bought a Blue Sea 7622 ML-ACR and working well as intended

I’ll try to get a write up and add it to my build thread that I’m waaaay behind on, but also haven’t done many 4Runner projects on my build thread last few years, but working on more now

Nice! Seems like we all had the same idea!

Battery: Renogy 12v 100aH AGM
Mount: Amazon Special
Charger: Renogy 40a 12v DC to DC
Solar: Renogy 100W 12v panel + Renogy Wanderer 30a Charge controller + Renogy RJ-12 bluetooth module

It is all run through a marine kill switch that disconnects between the battery and power panel in the back that I plug my fridge, phone, lights, and whatever else into. I also recently put all of my exterior lights to run on that battery, so now the starter battery is solely for starting the 4Runner.

The charger lives under my passenger seat!
