3.0 V6 Luck. Who has had the best.

I bought my 4r in feb 08. It's a 1994. It was running great then. It had 75,000 miles on it. Now she's at 78,000 and there is a head gasket leak. There is steam and coolant coming out of the tailpipe. I checked with the local toyota dealer and they said the recall was already performed in 2002 and it's my problem now. I'm pretty dissapointed in toyota and their lack of help. Now I'm trying to find out who is qualified to do the job right so this won't happen again.

I bought mine with 91,000 miles on it, and now it has 112,000 on it, after 2 years, and i haven't had any problems (knock on wood) my A/C compressor was locked up, but besides that, no head gasket issues, i don't know how well the PO took care of it, i don't think very well, so maybe he got it fixed with the recall?? Idk, i hope so lol

Had it for about 5 thousand miles. lol It's got a rough idle to it, and kinda acts funny between my gears... but its doin prety good otherwise. Drove it round trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks a month or two ago. Did fine, and it's got 31x10.50s... but it didn't come from the factory with em.. lol so its kinda lacking in power.
Back window is all messed up, but hey -- who's isnt? lol

my 94 t4r has 213,000 miles and besides reg tune up i have never touched the block.i do have a slight leak rear main seal so i may do some work soon.accelerator fix hear is what i did, went to local hardware store got a piece of 1/4 plumbing copper about 1/2 inch long put a slit down length put it on cable a pedal in cab,wrapped it in electrical tape (to prevent it from cutting cable)and that took up the slack

I have a 1st Gen V6 in an 89 runner. Bought it at 164k. On Dec 31, 2006 the speedometer took a crap at 232k. With the perm check engine light, 2 blown shocks, moderate oil loss/burn, and the rattle from #5 and #6 rods, it has been only a commuter since that date.I estimate I am at around 248k.<br><br>One note is I bought it with a less noticeable rattle in those rods, and thought I might have the engine redone b4 200k. All I actually did was a Motor Vac, and a few treatments with Red Line fuel cleaner.<br><br>I was hoping she would go at around 230k so I could justify moving on to another one, but she cranks on every 1st key turn and goes like a demon regardless of the rod rattle. I gave up and just bought a 94 last week.<br><br>Now what to do with her I don't know.

its probably just condensation burning off. but i would check your oil and make sure there isnt coolant leaking into the engineSlowYourRoll said:
mmm no HG problems. But I usually kill my engines before they get the chance to wear out...
I remember one, 3VZ-E, broke cylinder number five, had to drive on 5cyls for c.a. 200miles until I came home... (I guess 3VZ-E is not good for submarine uses on the runner...)
My 1KZ-T hasn't failed yet, so I guess I'll keep that one until it brakes up. Then I guess next step is SBC.

I finally got rid of my '90 4Runner SR5 V6 Auto 4x4 last month, tranny issues. I was the third owner at 81,000 miles. Lasted to 246,000 miles. Never had to replaced the headgasket or lower end block - the original owner did the Toyota recall headgasket back at 60,000. Just wanted to put me 2 cents. I miss that truck and think it's the best looking one of all gens. Best to you all................

I have a 92 with 153 000 miles and I dont think the head gasket has been done. I am the second owner and did not actually ask the previous owner if it was done (my dad picked it up for me) but I supposed I could find out if I wanted. Anyway, regardless, the engine runs excellent and as far as I know does not leak or have any problems what so ever. So I guess for the year or so that Ive had it I have had very good luck (knock on wood).
