3/1/09 Gorman (Hungry Valley) Trip

Hey guys, just back from a business trip, I see you all mention the Motorola Talk Abouts I am currently using the T6500 seriers for camping/hiking/wheeling; I have two and will bring them along.

I added you to the list, Mabuse. We are thinking about meeting at the back entrance (exit Smokey Bear Rd. on the 5) around 10:30 or 11. How does that sound to you?
Also, this trip is still open for anyone else who wants to come, I added a few more spots to the list.

As of right now Gorman is expected to get showers on Friday, and snow showers on Saturday (of next week, not tomorrow and the next day).
EDIT: Never mind... Since I last checked the weather earlier today while at work, it's now supposed to be sunny/ partly cloudy for those days. Hopefully we have a nice day on Sunday, but I won't know for a little longer. The 10-day only shows up to Saturday for now.
Guys, if you don't mind, entertain my curiosity. How old is everyone?

Funny you should ask, I was wondering the same thing and was thinking I was going to be the old guy AND the only NoCal dude...
I just turned 34 in January, I'll be rolling down with my dog, son (5) and a copilot of course.
That would be awesome if there was still some snow on the ground!

Well Blair and I were going to go up last Monday, but the snow was so bad, they closed the 5, so we were unable to go. With the heavy snow they got, I would almost guarantee there will be some when we go, unless they get some really warm days (in the 50's).
Blair and I are only 20 and 21 so you may still be the older guy there
So do you peeps think that a lift would be required (or highly recommended) for this trip? Mine is bone stock and still got the Michelins on =(
What type of terrain and how difficult? I had heard that Gorman has long stretches of dirt mostly. I've been to Azusa Canyon and my T4R took a small beating cuz it had clearance trouble and some approach angle problems.
Sound like fun.

I can't say for sure as I have never been myself, but I know I took on all the moderate trails at Hollister when my rig was bone stock and 50K miles on the crappy dunflops and she pulled me through some pretty decent challenges all the same.
I say, if you have time try and make it - the more of us there the more peeps to help us out of a jam and the experience gained will be totally worth it - my .02.
