I'm very happy with my JDM. I'm casting my vote for running her till she's dead; get yourself a JDM, clean it up, new OEM gaskets, and run until it dies again.

If you have the means, get the engine sooner, and plan your swap, rather than going through the stress of being down at an inopportune time.

I was lucky, I had 2 other vehicles to use, when necessary, and I have the use of a company truck for work. My truck was actually parked from Xmas to March/Apr when I did the swap.

Just out of curiosity what has been the average price for all of you whom have swapped out with a JDM engine?

My JDM cost $1500 plus shipping. I believe all in, I spent approx. $2100 due to the fact, I did more than some. I communicated with another member, zgensler31, who did a JDM swap at the same time. I don't know how much he paid, but he did the swap over a week (I think)... I did mine over a month.
