3 gauge pod for 3rd gen - interested?

I have long sought a 3 pod A pillar gauge rack for our beloved 3rd gens, only to be disappointed to find them completely unavailable, and only unavailable for our model. I recently restarted this quest and found pretty much the same information (I even found my original inquiry on T4R in my google search).

Finally I just started asking different companies if they'd make one. The following is the reply I got from Lo-Tek:

T,

Sorry, we do not have anything that will work for you.

If you want to do a group buy we would need a minimum order of 30. You can
read our project information page at www.gaugepods.com // Lotek Inc. for details. If you
think you can that number together the first thing we will need from you is
the trim piece to evaluate and price.

It looks like all they need is a trim piece from the model in question, a 4x4 color sample for each color to be painted, and the year, make and model of the vehicle, and gauge size.

Ive ran many gauge pods. 3 pods takes away too much view of the road, creates a blind spot. Best is a single or two at most. Then again I always liked the sleeper look. Cops look at you different with the pods, but probably not in a 4runner. LOL

I'd like to see a simple solution that "slips into" the lower ashtray area that provides room for 3 gauges and maybe a few switches... I have contemplated crafting one from glass but have yet to try.

So you think two pods gives you enough visual clearance? How bad was the blind spot? Thats the first I've heard of the issue and never really thought about it before. And most likely the cops won't be too worried about a 4Runner with gauges, but I get what you're sayin

Well it was in cars, never ran it in my 4runner. All I know is going too the dual pod was way better. Once we started breaking 500 crank power, we went more sleeper. So we hid the pods low say like the ash tray, heater vents, double dinn head unit area stuff like that. You really only see the pods on the diesels around here anymore.

On it! 3D printing to the rescue! You can expect to see something late May.

Get an Aeroforce interceptor or similar. Many guages in one and cycles through auo or with button presses.

Mine cycles at temp, mpg of odb, and boost a/f off 2 plx sensors. 1 pod, 4 guages.

ive got a universal one from ebay for $19.99 it was super nice for the price and i could play with it as i wanted.

For this one the top hole lines right up with the OH SHIz handle top bolt, i attached a angle piece of metal with a hole drilled in it that the factory bolt goes through and hole and seriously secures the whole gauge pod tightly to the a pillar.

There's a possibility lol. My buddy and I are just finishing up building a 3d printer with a 3'x3'x3' build envelope. Lol it is a big ole' sob but we can make pretty much anything lol

I use the lotek 2 gauge pod in my 4runner and it does disturb the view every now and then... Usually at night, mostly due to a combination of the gauges and tinted windows.

I too would prefer another gauge hunting solution but the 3rd gen has no real good spots - the gauges below the ashtray are a bad spot because you cannot see them while driving - bad for things like boost and AFR.

Actually when your tuning and needing to look at AFR or boost looking at the guage really dont do anything. Maybe max boost you can see but thats it.

When tuning out spool, boost, AFR's (wbo2 sensor, not a blinking crap AFR gauge that is for looks) you need to know exact rpms when your hitting that number. So looking at boost, AFR, and rpms at the same time and knowing the numbers at say what RPMS is a little tough. So you need a data logger to get the data.

Now since not to many options for that its easier to have a buddy try and guess the numbers and rpms so you wont be watching it.

Unless all this is being done for looks only then yes put it out for the world to see on your bad ass race car.

How much was that 2 pod mount? I checked over the Lo-Tek website, but its not very e-shopper friendly. Did you just email or phone him to inquire about purchasing one?
