3 row seat Option

Why is it so difficult in getting a 3rd row seat. My dealer has placed an order for me and i'm have been waiting 4 weeks and he tells me that it is going to be another 6 weeks!!! WHY!!!!

Your 4runner is sitting and waiting for a batch of vehicle that need the 3rd row seats (or other similar items) to be sent down the line. They don't just build it when you place the order.

I have the third row option in my 06 limited, but pulled them out the first day since I need the cargo space for work. However I am very glad to have them since with the option the 2nd row seats can recline almost all the way back. My 2nd row passengers are always very impressed and glad that they can recline the seats back!

I guess it depends where you live. I had no trouble finding a third row seat last month. Getting the wife to pick the color was the hard part ;-)

I have only been in one other 4Runner w/o 3rd row and it didn't recline at all, the seat back was in a fixed location but still very comfortable.

Nope. 4Runners with two row seating have different second rows than 4Runners with three row seating due to the lack of need for third row seat access.

What you do get with two row seating is toneau cover, mirrors in the cargo area or 10-speaker JBL system, or double decker option.

I was getting mixed up with the 07 4R and Rav4. Apparently it's the Rav4 that has minor reclining capability 2nd row without a 3rd row. My wife and I were looking at the Rav4 before being introduced to the 4R. No big deal, but it would be a nice feature on the 4R as well. Not that I care, I don't plan on ever being in the 2nd row of my own vehicle.

I had a very hard time finding a SR5 V6 4x4 (Model 8664) with 3rd Row seating (Code TH) and side-curtain airbags (Code GY) in Southern California. The dealers were not even helpful in ordering one. CarsDirect was at least helpful enough to locate one.

I finally found one in Northern CA, Monterey Bay area. Otherwise I would have to purchase one from Las Vegas, NV or Scottsdale, Phoenix, AZ area.

I can't believe the dealers were reluctant to order one. The viewpoint of our dealer that is ordering ours was...it's not costing them a thing to order it. Just our time in waiting to get it. Sometimes I don't understand business people, make that all the time I don't understand business people.

that's bs you should sue them. I was listening to this car program on that radio one time and a caller called in saying how he put a deposit on a car at the stealship but couple days after he changed his mind and wanted to know if he could recieve his deposit back. The host of the show said that no since he was in a contract already - the stealership was holding that car for him instead of selling it to someone else.

It really depends on how the dealer wants to do business. I bet most dealers would rather the customer settle and take something off the lot that they're paying money for every month than for the customer to wait on their perfect vehicle. Because what configuration/option combinations you see in your region is dictated by your regional distributor and not Toyota themselves. For my dealer, by doing my special order, they're giving one of their allocated 4Runners until mine arrive. So the three months that it took for my 4Runner to arrive, the dealer was getting one fewer 4Runner until mine arrived and cleared off their allocation. This can be a problem if they have enough customers who want 4Runners and it would just eat up their entire allocation, leaving only what's on the lot possible for sale.

My sales rep sees it as a definate sale, so to him it doesn't matter--just waiting. His motto is, if I'm willing to wait, he's willing to do everything he can to get me what I want. Right now, he's ordering Tundra 5.7 V8 4x4 regular cab short beds, which his customers said other dealers can't get or order.

That is just fluff, all 4runners have 2nd row fold down rear seats.

That's what I figured. I was just hoping they were just commonly mislabled.... It doesn't look like there are going to be many 4Runners to pick from in my area (Puget Sound...Seattle area).

They are fairly rare option (at least here in Fla).

The 2nd row in a non third row 4Runner folds flat after you first fold up the bottom cushion, but the seat back on the 2nd row does not recline unfortunately.

The 2nd row in a 4R with the third row is different in that it "tumbles" forward. First the seat back folds forward, then the whole thing pivots up and forward (like on a Lexus GX470 too). You lose some nice features though like the cargo cover. The good news is the 2nd row seat back reclines and you have room in the third row for some midgets

You can order the cargo cover and install it with the 3rd row as an accessory. The only catch is you you can't tumble the seats up with the cargo cover down, they must be down on the floor or taken out of the vehicle.

Anyone know how much the dealer usually charges for the cargo cover plus the end hook pieces on the D-pillars? That's one thing I regret about getting the 3rd row seats is that there is no cargo cover for obvious reasons. The mounting locations are just covered with blank plugs. It certainly looks do-able, just have to pop the blanks off and install. The 3rd row seat belts wouldn't really get in the way either as they are held to the wall by clips.

Does anyone know if the Sequoia comes standard with third row seats? Can they be easily removed?

It's a shame there are so few 4Runners with space for growing families. I guess 4Runners have 2 kids max or none at all?

Sequoia comes with 3rd row seating standard. LandCruiser also comes with 3rd row standard. LandCruiser and 4Runner seats tumble and fold up to the side. Not sure about the Sequoia.

Are you sure about this? I thought the entire back panels were different?

Like dingo I would like to know how much this would cost, I would love to add this since I hardly ever use the 3rd row seats, but almost always have some crap in the back I would like more hidden.
