3" smooth air intake mod

I built a 3" intake tube to replace the factory plastic piece with all the cumbersome boxes, as i didnt want to hack apart my factory intake tube for the ISR mod. I still havent had a chance to compare MPG's to stock but im hoping it helped a little. It definitely cleans up the looks of the engine bay. I recently ordered a full intake kit so i will no longer need this. Its for sale in the classified section. And if you want to build your own here is a link with some pics.

Ha! Im thinkin' this is the only one ill ever make.

I bought the 45 degree bend and when it didnt fit i told my TIG welder "It probably just needs a cut or two"...2 hours later he was cursing me haha!:hatsoff:

Wont work without bending as its not an exact 45 degree angle thats needed.

FWIW, i still have mine available if anyones interested...willing to deal as its just taking up space. A lot less than Airaids $129 price tag, less than half:biggrin2:

Wouldn't it be alot simpler to just replace the the straight 6" piece ( that has the intake bladder attached )with a small tube, leaving the oem rubber bends and still look factory instead ?
Would there be a tangible gain with that welded pipe compared to leaving the oem joints, replacing the bladder/straight pipe?
If the goal is to lose the oem bladder, trying to maintain factory vaccum, and work with the original design it just makes more sense to merly remove the straight pipe/bladder and replace with a straight pipe ( you can paint black) and look like it was meant to be there.
Not to mention a 3" inch diameter Aluminum pipe you could get for less than $3 plus a $7 can of ceramic black paint.
