3 Year Anniversary for the Timmy the Tooman Show

Hey Dudes,
[MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION] and I just had our 3 year anniversary on the 23rd. Who would have thought inviting Sean over my house to help him with a valve cover gasket job would have turned into a full on YouTube channel gig for us.

We now have 108 videos, 14,000 subscribers and over 2 million total views for our videos. I keep thinking we will run out of material for 3rd Gen 4runners but we haven't yet. If you have suggestions for a video(s), please share them with us. If you live in the California Bay Area and you have something you need help with that we haven't done a video of, hit us up. Also, if you have another generation 4runner or other Toyota SUV or truck like a FJ Cruiser or Tundra, contact us for help because we are interested in branching out to other generations and models.

With that said, I hope you have found our videos helpful. We want to empower people to handle their own automotive repairs, maintenance jobs and mods. Automotive work can be intimidating, but when you're armed with the right information, right tools and possess the right level of patience, you can absolutely handle your own work. Dealership and private shop hourly rates aren't getting any more affordable. If you are at all interested in auto mechanics, I highly suggest you give it a try. Start off with simple jobs to build your confidence, and before you know it, you'll be tackling all your own work.

Your stuck cam sleeve video got me out of real trouble and i've used several others throughout my rebuild. Also Sean found a mint pair of late taillights for me after the others sold and thats just pure badassery for him to go out of his way and do that for a stranger.

I just watched your 4Runner rear spring replacement video yesterday. Thank you for doing what you do to help everyone. We need more Tim the Toolman's around here.

You are both awesome for all the work you've put into these video. For me it's a mixed bag with your videos though. Whenever you post a video on some maintenance item, I immediate add it to my to-do list I have:wacko:

As far as suggestions, I think someone else previously mentioned a head gasket video or even a full rebuild video. Those would be awesome, though I think either of those would be rather daunting tasks. Probably multi-day affairs.

What about a block up rebuild on a spare motor? I made a lot of mistakes and didnt document nearly enough of mine so it might be awesome to see it all done correctly... for next time :wink2:

Just an idea, if the motor isn't needed you could sell it or raffle it off to recoup the costs of machining, new parts and beer

You know, I was just thinking: I watch a lot of auto mechanic's Youtube channels ever since you both started yours. People like JRC54, Rustbelt Mechanic, ChuckE2009, Tony the Technician, among many others. One thing that these guys do is a toolbox tour where they go over the tools they have and why. Not sure if a lot of people would be interested in that, but being a tool junky myself I'd find that interesting. :hatsoff:

Other people have suggested a tool box review for us so maybe I will do one. I don't have fancy tool boxes or real fancy tools like Snap-on or Matco but maybe that's a good thing because how many DIYers want to spend the kind of money required to own a toolbox full of Snap-on or Matco tools?

I feel bad that you weren’t loving the 3/8” Dewalt impact. I finally blew up my motor in mine after four years and decided to splurge for the Milwaukee compact 12v 3/8. But the 1/2 looks like it gets ridden hard.

I vote for the shifter bushing replacement video to be made.

I'm liking my little Dewalt gun you recommended. I use it quite a bit. I honestly never expected it to be as powerful as you said it was. It does just fine so I have no complaints. I used it recently to help my friend Garett install a C4 bumper on his 5th Gen.

I promise that shifter bushing video will be made. I'd like to find somebody with a really sloppy shifter though. Mine aren't that bad so I'd like to show a more dramatic improvement for the video.

You remember some of my quotes. I feel honored. I guess I've spewed quite a few Timmy sayings over the last 3 years. My new favorite one is letting people know we don't have a torque value for them so we're going to use the German spec of "Gudentite".

Haven’t been on here near as long as everyone else, but the little I have been exposed to Tim and Sean has been really helpful.
