30 AMP Audio fuse keeps blowing

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me with this audio issue I'm running into. I currently drive a 2016 Limited. Yesterday I noticed my volumn/audio sound wasn't working. I checked the audio fuses in the engine compartment and the (31)30a AMP fuse was blown. I changed the fuse and it blew again. After a few hours of investigating, the culprit was the JBL amp.

So my questions are:
1. After unplugging the JBL amp, should sound come back?
*I tried it and I'm still not getting any sound. So I'm wondering if the answer is "Yes, I should get sound." Do I have another issue to deal with?
2. Will replacing the JBL amp solve the issue?
3. Does anyone have a recommended aftermark plug-n-play amp?

I tried searching for this issue but couldn't really find an answer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have a fuse blowing consistently… then you have a larger underlying problem that needs to be corrected otherwise you will just keep blowing fuses.

Perhaps it’s the wiring to the amp
Perhaps the amp itself has an internal short

You need to troubleshoot and diagnose the issue. I would start by removing the amp and checking the power path for shorts.

Thanks Bumbo. I did a little bit of digging today and the fuse shorts whenever I plug in the white plug (blue and brown wires) into the amp. I need figure out what those wires are and like you mentioned, see if it's the amp or the wiring. I've been searching the internet today to see if I could find an electrical diagram. So far no luck. I might take my car into Toyota Monday to see if they can help figure it out.

After reading a few articles about amp fuse blowing. The blue and brown wire is most likely the power wire. I'm going to have to trace these wires to make sure it's not grounding out some where. If the wires are good than it's the amp. Ouch!

I would prefer it to be the amp and not the wiring harness, which might be more costly to fix from a time/labor standpoint.

You can use a volt meter to measure power at the connector and you can test continuity to ground with a meter as well. Use the resistance setting and mark the value.

People are selling used amps on eBay for around 500. Toyota is selling them for 1000.

Yikes! You can get one helluva nice amp for $1000! JL Audio RD900/5 for $600. TacoTunes has a lot of 4runner-specific audio gear. They have "plug and play" amps but I don't know much about them and don't know how "plug and play" they really are. I got a tweeter/dash adapter ring from them but that's way different than an amp.
