My wife learned how to drive on a 3rdGen. Last year we were able to trade in for a 5thGen!!

She misses the rust...though I'm a fan of the added comfort and KDSS

Just picked up a 1999 sr5 and loving it! Seems to run great for 280xxxkms but the valve cover gasket leaks somthing fierce.

We have two 4th gens in the family, both 4x4. One is at 229K miles with regular maintenance only. The other has been driven hard by a teenage, now young adult son and at 310K miles has had an engine rebuild at 200K (overboard decision, it was a head gasket but the price wasn't far off, so I thought I'd buy "insurance" miles...dumb), a transmission rebuild at 280K, a radiator (I think twice...he rammed it around in the desert) and regular maintenance. But the kid crashed it this week and it's a total loss, which is why I'm on here trying to get my 15 posts (lol), but I saw your message and thought I'd share. Good luck! I'm positive the truck chassis saved my kid's life...he walked away with only a tiny scratch on his arm from the airbag deployment after crashing head first into a tree at 55 mph. He clipped a curb and couldn't correct back. I'm buying him another....correction....he's buying himself another!
