300k thinking about adding a supercharger

Alright I'm sure this question had been asked before i read a few trd threads and have not seen a answer...

I stumbled across a smoking deal for a second gen supercharger with everything and the 7th injector. However I'm thinking i might buy it and sell it again if someone can talk me our of why it would be a bad idea to add it to my 310k motor. It does not burn any oil and purrs like a kitten.

Have you ran a compression test on the motor?

These motors are pretty darn resilient from what I have gathered, but I will let someone with more knowledge in forced induction make the call.

If your maintenance is up to date and your engine seems solid to you (no death wobbles or misfires) then go for it. You can always switch back if it doesn't work out, the only "permanent" part of it would be cutting the timing belt cover.

Yeah switching back would be easy if i was keeping everything i take off. We would be parking both trucks next to each other and swapping everything. I get the supercharger 7th injector wide band gauges boost gauges smaller 2.2 pully all for a smoking deal.

is it on craigslist? i just picked up the 2nd gen super charger in tacoma.

Any idea why the other guy is taking it off? Unless you know the guy personally, I would suspect something is broken or not working right. Who would ever sell a complete setup like that?

maybe if they are selling the truck and they feel they wont get their money or value back out of it with a SC add on.

I was wanting to sc mine and im at 258k motor seems strong but i have not done a compression test yet... I worry abojt the trans as well.

Well all I can say is that it won't add to the life of the motor, but if you maintence is up to date I say go for it!

Yeah, maybe. It's definitely cheaper to buy a 4Runner with a supercharger already on it than to buy one separately. Makes no sense at all since you then have to install!

Its a buddy of mine he's not advertising it. It's on his 99 tacoma he just bought but he doesn't need or want it. guy who installed it on the tacoma said it was brand new

So I'm going for it starting the swap tomorrow after work guess I'll be joining the boosted crowd maybe beat a few more rice burners light to light without being in 2lo.
