30mpg from a 4runner?

my frame should be back from the blasters this week after that the new engine will go in and ii take photos of the block off plates and reroutes of emission.

No sadly I meant Kilometers. But from whistler to the gas station close to my house is 135 km exactly(according to google maps). And it took just over 12L to get that far ( filled up in whistler then filled up in Vancouver) I swapped kilometers in to miles and liters into gallons and it came up with 30
I have not re geared since 31's nor have I adjusted my speedo. When I did the 135km drive, my trip meter said I only did 129kms

11.25km/L = 27.05mpg
I guess y'all round to the nearest whole multiple of 10 up there in Canada... :wink2:

i guess im not doing too badly then. i was thinking i was getting crap.
an 85 with a worn engine, 6" lift, 35's, 5.29 gears, my last 2 tanks were 21, and 20. normally its about 17/18.
in a totally stock rig, with careful driving i think you could hit 30, maybe once or twice. but a good solid average around 25-27 should be doable.
Yeah, my 95 3.0 with an automatic sucks ass on gas as well.
I did a ton of work to it, rebuilt the top end, new starter, alternator, hoses, belts,knock sensor, new brakes/rotors all around, new bearings on all corners,complete new exhaust system and cat, rebuilt the rear differential, Rancho shocks,balanced driveshaft,new u-joints and numerous other smaller projects. It runs like a top, but man, badddddd gas mileage. Pretty much stock, it's a California emissions model with stock 4.88's, new 31/10.5 BFG KO's and manual hubs. I'm in NC and have made several trips to drive the beach on the Outer Banks(plus side is that this thing pulls like nothing else in 4LO in the sand), I'm usually refilling after about 240 miles, mind you it pretty flat running from Raleigh to the beach. Speed limit is 70 for a good part of the way so I'm pushing it a bit. Overall I am averaging about 15-16 MPG on the highway.
Sad to say, but I'm pretty much done with the 2nd gen, 3.Slow. I'm planning on getting rid of it before the end of the summer. Just need to get around to replacing my rear bumper, have a replacement, just need time, plus some smaller projects to make it more sale-able. Combination of crappy gas mileage
and no power make it not so fun(and don't forget how much time and energy I spent getting the vibrations out of the thing) I mean, If it had power and got bad gas mileage, that would be one thing, but I feel like I am getting jipped. No power and bad gas mileage, blahh.
I just have come to think that this vehicle, in this configuration, is a bust.

If anyone knows someone looking for a 2nd gen, have them PM me. I will be looking for top of the market, but just about everything has been gone over or rebuilt. Less than 2000 miles on it since I completed all the work.

I have just upgraded from a 91 3.0 to a 2000 3.4 In my 91 I went from about 17 to 23 with a water vapor induction system I built. Truck ran so much better and it is slightly more than 25% increase. I just did the ISR mod, deck plate mod and the water vapor on the 2000. I haven't had a chance to check mileage but a great performance improvement ( I have to be careful turning onto streets on wet road). Theoretically I hope to get 28-30 mpg. I'll post results.
