315/70/17 BFG A/T's??

Has anyone tried this tire size? How much of a lift would you need to accommodate such a tire?

I put 285/70/17s on my 05 with a 3" Revtek lift and I had to cut quite a bit in the front fenderwells

Yes, I ran the 315s for a very short time. That was with: 1.25" body lift, 4.5" suspension lift, aftermarket wheels, reshaping the front fenders, grinding down the upper arms, and grinding off part of the frame near the body mounts up front.

Even after all of that, the tires are still far too heavy and far too large for most uses -- they'll wear out the steering components quickly and if you plan on taking them offroad, they'll chew up the wheel well regardless of how much you cut out.

I quickly went back to my 275 MTRs and have been much happier.

Ya, definitely not worth the time and money then!! A friend of mine with an H2 bought aftermarket wheels and tires and offered me his set for 100 dollars so I just wanted to see if anyone had tried it. I guess I'll buy a new pair of running shoes instead...

the offset and backspacing of the h2 wheels may be more 4x4 friendly, but you will definitely need more lift and trimming dependent on the new wheels.

I would have junked the wheels anyways- I think they are ugly. I just wanted to use the tires. I can't stand to cut my vehicle so I don't think I will use them...

How big of lift did you go ? I thought you just did a front leveling kit ?

I bought a leveling lift, 1" front but never actually put it on! I am famous for buying shit and then it sitting for very long periods of time, i.e. car stereo equipment, electronics, etc. :bash: I now think if I'm going to lift the vehicle I will go 2" front, 1" rear at least. BTW, I have a 4-channel PPI amp, some MB Quart 6.5" components, 2 Soundstream 12" subs and a Samsung SyncMaster 214t graphics quality monitor if anyone is interested. All NIB. I am in the process of buying another house and taking some graduate courses so I would like to liquidate a bit...

I do the same crap , I get to busy and it sits. I also am looking into that Daystar comfort ride kit , like that JA posted . Sounds like and interesting kit.

All in all I think I'll be happy just to level it off. Sometime I drive at high speeds , and am worried about stability.
