31X10.5R15 BFGoodrich tires

I'm thinking about downgrading to 31's, do I have to regear or will this be okay to use? I think my gears are 3.90 not too sure. any info would help thanks! I'm downgrading from 33's.

If you're going to go down to a closer to stock size, I would say no, you don't have to regear

I thought you had to re-gear anything or 33" but I wasn't sure if 31" fell into that category also.

A re-gear is needed when you increase the size of your tires. It helps you to regain the power and acceleration lost due to the added weight of the larger tires. Going from a 33" down to a 31" will help you regain the original feel & power your 4R had before moving to the 33's. It should feel like you are gaining power.

In short--Just Do It! No re-gear. I think you'll like it...and your MPG may improve a little too!

Unless the previous owner regeared for the 33's before you bought it, will only benefit you to downsize. I'd imagine you'd get at least a 1 mpg increase on top of that, possibly more. Do it!

Yeah now that I'm thinking about it I'm probably going to do it, just gotta save up for the tires. Before when I was on stock tires I had mixed city and fwy miles at around 240-250 now with the 33's I get around 170-180 without re-gear. The braking isn't too great either with stock brakes so I guess I'll be getting power mileage and braking will be a little better with 31's. Also gotta find someone to buy my 33's lol. Thanks for the input guys!
