It's hard keeping up with buggies/truggies and Jeeps on 40s almost every weekend. Threw on some new beadlocks and 37s.

I think it might be time for a trail rig.. Just saying.... My 5th gen would be a total loss if I tried to keep up with the rigs I wheel with in my pickup.

If you don't mind having a raisin.... I guess keep up the good work LOL

Most definitely the hardest wheeled 5th gen I've seen, forum and IG included.

Wheel hard, break things, rinse and repeat. Plus it's an SR5 too!
 
Hats off to actually using it ( I thought mine was beat up!)

But I will say I think 35's are the visually appealing limit for me those 37's start to make things look odd - clearly visual appearance is a top concern when choosing to run 37" tires :bowl:

It is my trail rig.
 
Id be interested to know what you did to make it trail worthy with 37's. For me it was cut the footwell back 2" and re-plate, move the rear axle back 2" along with a new driveshaft, trim and beat the crap out of both inner fenders and plastic body parts, more lift, extra bumpstop length....

Hit trails with friends over the weekend up in NH. The truck did great on the new wheel and tire set up. Slight rubbing in the rear. Steering rack hates it but I was able to keep the inner tie rods in tact.

I made the decision a few years back to buy another rig for the hard core stuff. And I'm really glad I did. It's been so much fun with much less stress knowing it can handle anything I throw at it.

Sometimes you just need the right tool for the job. The 5th gen is a pretty versatile tool, but it has some major limits when it comes to the really hard core stuff. Even with SAS...the body is just too big for the stuff I like to do.. but it is also fun to make things do what they are not really good at, so I get it.

I'm always on the hunt for a dedicated trail rig that I won't care if I roll it. Looking for a truggy. I just don't have the space or a truck with a trailer for it right now.
 
Finally got to 37" tires

Had to tub the front wheel wells (moved the body mounts and cut into the firewall). Relocated the window washer fluid reservoir and running +4 caster. Haven't bent a tie rod yet - had it offroad 5 times since installing the 37s.
