3D Printed Center Console Switch Guards

[MENTION=165]momo.75[/MENTION] had a good idea a couple of weeks ago; a guard for the switches on the center console, so that they could be used for things such as lights without fear of them being accidentally engaged by a passenger/pet/cargo item. It looked like a fun design project so I gave it a shot and this is what I came up with. It is designed to contour with the center console while guarding any factory-style button switches, and can be fastened with 4x M4 socket cap screws. If there is any interest, I can make a version that will fit around the common Contura-style switches. Let me know what you guys think.

The current version is designed around the OEM push-button switches, so it's best suited for something like the FJ Aux Light Switch. However, I can make another version that would have wider openings to support larger rocker switches if that's what people are looking for.

For those wanting the guard for the push-button style cutouts, I can have them shipped out within the week. They're $15 shipped per guard, unpainted.

Alternatively, you can purchase on Shapeways (starting at $25.00), if you want more color/material options.

If you want a guard for the larger rocker switches, it'll be a little longer wait, but you can expect similar pricing.

I ended up purchasing a limited console so I had the two extra switch spots (usually used for heated seat dials). I plan on having my two side light switches mounted there. I’m wondering if you still have the ability to create these guards and if would be willing to either create two individual ones for each side or a larger one to accommodate all five switches.

Sorry for the delayed response, I'm just starting to get more active on this forum once again after a busy summer. I'm glad you like the design! I'll give the additional switch locations some thought and see what I can come up with. Did you fasten the guard with nuts on the reverse side of the console? If so, is there room to do the same near the auxiliary limited switches?

I can't really remember. I feel like if I did they might have been stainless steel and I then found black ones I preferred.

what are these madefrom? (abs, nylon, PLA.. etc) nothing that will melt in the heat I hope,
