3D Printed Cup-holder Insert

Looking to buy one as well. Until then I have been using a 20 oz. Ozark Trail tumbler which fits nice and tight in the cup holders. It's like it was made for the 4th Gen. and its only $7.74 at Wal-Mart. The Yeti's 20 oz. cups are the exact same size so they will also work.

Coming to this posting late in the game, but it looks interesting. I have access to 3D printers here at work. Wondering if you could send me the file to give my two cents of assistance to the design.

Thanks for the hard work, OP.

I've been meaning to pick one of these up. You may have just given me a good reason to. Thanks

You guys do realize he's a college guy on a limited budget with much less time working on these when he can catch his breath for 2 seconds right??....

Not necessarily

I bought these and they may have changed the size. It fits, but not "made for the 4th gen" still slops from side to side. Thanks for the suggestion but they must have changed the design. The ones they are selling as of July 2016 are way too small not to spill

I really feel bad about neglecting this project as much as have. Yes, it's been on the back-burner for the majority of 2016, but I'm also trying to not completely let it die. Between school, work, and non-Toyota related printing, it's been hard to find time to do the final prototyping for this project. Also, I lent one of my 3D printers away over the last year, so it wasn't feasible to always have my only available printer tied up with prototyping prints. Now that I have both printers back with me I'll be able to run more prints.

I've also been having trouble trying to dial in my design to fit as many bottle needs as possible. As expressed in one of my previous posts, there seems to be no single "perfect" design. I'm interested to see how my current version will work for one of you guys before I start selling them to everybody. It just doesn't feel right trying to sell something that I don't have 100% confidence in.

So here's what I'll do...

I'll send an unassembled, current-version cupholder (the one I've been using for a few months) to the first user to PM me. All I ask is that the winning user pay shipping and that they provide feedback on the cupholder design. The guinea pig will also receive a discount on the final version when it is offered for sale. I will update this post after someone has claimed it.

Here is a picture of the current version cupholder in the truck. I painted mine.

Did you buy the 20 ounce mug or 30 ounce mug? if you bought the 30 ounce mug, then the fit wouldn't be tight. If you did buy the 20oz mug, did you extend the cup holder arms to the middle position, if not then it would slop around as you mentioned. Here's a photo of the mug with the cup holder arms set to the middle position.

Hey everyone, I just received the prototype from TiN.

I will post up pictures tomorrow. In the meantime, should we make a list of things you'd like to test fit into the new cupholder?

Heres what I have so far.

Fits:
Pint cup Hydroflask

Does not Fit:
40oz Hydroflask

1 liter water bottle, 20 oz pop bottle, and a red bull sized can for starters.

This thread to too funny. I was thinking about ya the other day. The front cup holders are garbage. If your invention holds them (cups or whatever), i'm interested!
