3G and 4G 4Runners - both totalled

I've had the unfortunate luck of being a charter member of the T4RCDA (Toyota 4Runner Crash Dummy Academy) - TWICE!

In both cases, I walked away from the accident (niether was my fault) eventhough the 4Runners were declared total losses.

Here are a few pics to show waht you can walk away from:

Crash #1

A 1989 Buick LeSabre ran a red light at about 35 mph and T-Boned my '98 4Runner V-6 (5 speed manual w/ the TRD Supercharger - what a great combo!) - my truck slid through the intersection, slid into a curb (shearing off the undercarriage), and then took out the pole holding the traffic light in the intersection. I walked away w/o a scratch, although 4Runner didn't fair as well.

Note in the pics that the Buick was transformed into a a new "cab forward" design!


Crash #2

My 2003 4Runner Ltd V-8 was hit head-on by a 1990 Jeep Cherokee that crossed the centerline at about 20 MPH. Once again, I walked away.

Wish me better luck with my 2005 Ltd V-8!

wow... good luck. It seems as if all odds are against you, either that or you just have a whole lot of bad drivers out there in Mass.

jeez.. yea where in mass are ya?

ive somehow managed (knock on wood) to be around some pretty terrible drivers (im in brighton, but drive in downtown boston frequently) he city has to offer and havent yet had a fender bender.

A couple things...

1) Why did the airbag deploy in your '98? Did you slide into something head on afte the initial impact?

2) Wanna sell me, or if you're feeling nice, give me the instrument cluster on your '03 Limited? I love the look and the little red dot :arrow:

I think the collision was sufficiently violent that the directional orientation of the accelerometers didn't matter anymore.

2) Wanna sell me, or if you're feeling nice, give me the instrument cluster on your '03 Limited? I love the look and the little red dot

I no longer have the '03 - it's gone to a salvage yard somewhere unknown to me - there are some other parts on it I'd like to have too!
