3GT4R's Build Thread 2002 4Runner

My autozone stocks some boat parts because we're on the coast ;)
How convenient.
I just put in some NGK iridium plugs because I haven't changed mine since I bought the truck... They were filthy. I plan to put in an order for some high performance spark plug wires. Any recommendations?

So, today I had big plans for the t4r... The plan was to install the ss 1.2 lift, put on the wheels and tires and go get an alignment.... But, little did I know, the base shop is closed on Mon and tues. So ill hold off on that so I can use their hoist for like $5.
I installed the BajaRack and hilift jack mount. It was a breeze, and with the help of a friend, easy to put up on top.
After a few beers I got the itch again and went out and took off my bumper to get it ready for the ARB.
Not a bad day...

I've been trying to upload the pictures on my phone for a while on this weak 3g at my friends house, but no dice. I'll get em up first thing tomorrow.

Nice, these bumpers are a pain to take off, aren't they?

Didn't know about those two bushings on the side wings until I had the main mounts unbolted and tried to pull it off. lol

I look forward to the pics

I went to the base shop today and got most of the way done with the lift, but couldn't quite finish it up before it closed so she's sleeping there tonight. Plans for tomorrow go as follows:
1. Finish Lift install
2. Prep for ARB bumper (chop off the frame end caps and drill a 1/2'' hole for the bolt... I'm going to weld the new frame ends on when I install the Winch... had some problems with the one they sent me so I have to send it back to the factory for replacement)
3. Install ARB
4. Install wheels and tires
5. Get an alignment
6. D B
7. R E
8. I E
9. N R
10.K

Big picture day tomorrow

Items 6-10 will be very rewarding.

Nice start on your 4Runner! You're certainly not wasting any time, but then again I'm sure it's nice to be doing something for yourself for a change.

Thanks for serving, and welcome to the forum.

I got the lift finished off today...

That was finished by 5pm... Later than expected, of course... Went back to the house to put on wheels and tires and quickly found out that the lug nuts wouldnt fit the new pro comps. So I scrapped that idea for today and put on the ARB bumper. Directions are pretty weak compared to Sonoran Steels lift install directions, but we figured it out and got it installed after the sun went down, hence no pictures.....more pics tomorrow right before and after the wheels get put on.
I'm sitting at hooters completing steps 6-10 currently. Goodnight.

I'll be looking forward to those pics my friend.

I'll start my own thread tomorrow. Would have done it earlier... but had duty. Damn you and Hooters!

Alight, so I got ahold of some lug nuts and put on the wheels and tires... I couldn't be happier with the way this truck is turning out. I've got an alignment scheduled for tomorrow morning. Now I need to save up some money for a custom exhaust :D
Enjoy the pictures

Today I changed the oil out for some Mobil 1 full synthetic, and installed all the interior led lighting... Waiting for the sun to go down to get some pictures. I'll be painting the sliders tomorrow and having them welded on Tuesday

That's what happens when you stock pile parts in your garage during a 7 month deployment! It's been a long week of working on this thing, but very rewarding

Beach Wheelin'!

Made it out to the beach for a quick drive today and snapped a few flex pics ;)

Thanks for your service! I want to get a lift on my '98, since I don't like being lower to the ground than a 3/4 ton truck. My dad won't let me buy a lift kit because it will increase the driveshaft angle and he says it will hurt the tranny. I will get our local Toyota genius to talk him into letting me buy a kit (hopefully). Your truck is coming along great! How does the Baja Rack install?

First off thank you for your service! Beautiful truck, it's turning out really nice and can't wait to see what else you put on. What beach were you running on?
