3M paint protection film

New member, new Runner, great group!

My question is this...3m makes a clear film that can be applied over your painted areas to protect against rock chips, etc. I think it's called Scotchguard Paint Protection film or Clear Bra. I actually used some on my 97 Rodeo and it held up well for the 7 years I had that car. Have any of you tried this yourself on your Runner?

welcome to the forum. I don't have experience with this product, but if you go to bimmer.roadfly.org and search in the Z3 forum for"X-PEL" tons of Z3 folks have put it on their cars as the water based bimmer paint chips if you look at it harshly. I had a Z3 but never wanted to put it on...you could always see that line on that gorgeous Z3 hood where it ended. I see that some colors may be susceptible to fading from it, too. Don't know if XPel is 3M or different. But you will at least learn some general things about that type of product.

i have the xpel kit on my runner....couldn't be happier with it....been on for almost 2 years now and looks good as new, no yellowing at all.

nope. doesnt harm the paint...ive seen the installers "peel" off an old job...he said to leave it parked in the sun for a while then slowly peel away from one corner. whaever adhesive was left was easily removed with 3m adhesive remover...
