3M protective film?

What areas of your T4R did you cover in 3M clear protective film? I'm thinking I'll cover my tailgate (adding a ladder), a narrow strip across the TOP of my roof to protect the paint from rubbing by the wind fairing (Gobi roof rack), and maybe whatever's left of the nose after I install the Pelfrey bumper/deer killer.

Any input, experience or opinions? Areas I'm forgetting?

Once the Gobi arrives, I plan on doing the same as you. The hatch and the top under the fairing.

Front 1/3rd of the hood and fenders, behind the door handle cups, behind the ladder, roof, side mirrors.

Did you do the whole roof or just where your rack touches? I was considering doing the whole thing since I'll be installing a roof rack, but wasn't sure if it was worth it or not.

slightly off topic K9, but are you going with Pelfry's aluminum or steel front bumper, I am weighing the pros and cons myself

I went with steel-as much for strength (some big deer and bear along my driving routes), as for the corrosion. While not an issue in some locations, I'm up in the mountains and both Caltrans and N-DOT use de-icing chemicals on bridges and some roadways. The 2 dissimilar metals combined with a mechanism to initiate the electro-chemical reaction (de-icing chemical) WILL cause the bumper to corrode. Do a quick google search for info on N-Fab nerf bars corroding...also older Rovers.

I'm on vacation now, but just got notice from my friend that it arrived today, so I'll shoot a couple picts when back next week, before I take it to the powder coated.

Only con that I can tell is weight...and that's a pro against a big animal, and only a con against our anemic 4.0L engine...and I figure Magnuson about has that fix ready for me too.

Thank you for the detailed response. I'm leaning steel as well. I just do a lot of driving, ~400miles/week, at least for the next year and was thinking the aluminum would save me so mpgs. But I don't think the bump in price and loss in strength truly justifies the aluminum

I had my whole front end and 1/3 of the way up the hood done. I don't really notice the line on the hood where the clear bra ends.

I had my whole front end (front fascia, the whole hood, and the entire front fenders) done along with my mirrors.

Did the entire front end, and roof. May do the "lift gate" to protect from the GOBI ladder.

Not to be too nosy, but how much does something like this cost? Assuming you all had it applied by someone else.
