3rd gen 319mm brakes

I have a 99 limited 4x4, I went to do the brakes on it the other day and found that I have 319mm rotors as opposed to the 297mm. Is this because it is a higher trim level or a 4x4 or was this some kind of factory option that I didn't know I had?

Are those oem for 4th gen? I wonder if the calipers from 4th gen fit?

No idea, my 3rd gen is stock as a rock and had them on there so I would assume they are OEM for 3rd gens

4Runners with 15" wheels have 297mm rotors and 16" wheels get 318.5mm rotors. I'm sure it's a 4cyl vs 6cyl thing but I'm not positive.

Thanks! Yea I figured wheel size might have something to do with it, so the problems with the rotors on 3rd gens I have been reading about, do the 319's help at all? I know that the tundra upgrade uses ~230mm rotors, why would a smaller rotor net a better brake system?

I'm guessing it's because when people talk about the Tundra brakes, the 231mm refers to the calipers and not the rotors.

Ahh ok that makes sense. I was gonna say people talk about these brakes being small, the ones on my truck were the same size and were beefy as hell so why would a tundra have small ass rotors like that, I didn't even think about the calipers lol

Tundra rotors are the same diameter as stock 4Runner rotors, however Tundra rotors are thicker (which resists warping a lot better). Tundra calipers and pads are larger than those on the 4Runner.
