Looks really good! Are the lights from a 4th gen?
No, they are a special housing shipped from Russia. Made for 3rd gen.

Those look great. You got a link or more information on them? Are they drop in?
Do you have a link and cost of these? Also how long did it take to get them from Russia?

Everything is in russian online so the company will work with you. They run about $300 U.S. Dollars and about $50 for shipping. It takes about two weeks with regular shipping. You can trust this company as well, they will not steal your money.
Now I did a retrofit on these headlights, so I swapped the projector, halos, and put in new halogen highs. Everything inside is new. Had to do cutting, trimming, and new wiring of course. I bought all of my new stuff on the TRS Website. For about another $400. Eveything came to a total of about $800-$900 all done. Message me if you'd like specific info on what I used. They're from China, and from other forums, they translated that fitting was close but not perfect. Seemed to be decently made. Cost was about $210, I think with current exchange rate, and it was (per another thread) $120 Shipping. Still need the HID wiring (ballasts and such), this is just for the housings. If they came with lights, they weren't the best. Also, these are for right hand drivers... So they may blind us USofA Folk.
I did see someone retrofit the 4th Gen into our 3rd Gen Housings awhile back. That was pretty killer looking. I love this look. Please, OP tell us how they are. Any night pics of the light output on them?

I would agree with you that the lights and projectors that come with the russian made headlights are pretty cheap. The halos are also about 1 inch led spaced and I just didn't like the look. I wouldn't leave the housing as in if you got them. The housing itself is pretty decent tho. I don't know about the right hand driver subject you brought up. I had to open the housing and create a new mounting template for the projectors I retrofitted so I might have fixed that problem there! I will try and get some light output on them tonight.

They come plastic. I left mine that way. Although, I'm sure you can swap your OEM glass lenses into the new housing.

Are you sure they are RHD? Because that would suit me here in the UK. But I know another Hilux Surf owner here who got some from Rumin and he's still holding off converting them to projectors and says his are definitely LHD.
In the end I've got some 99-02 spec clear lens jobs en route from Japan, which are deffo RHD.
LED bulbs in the Russian/ Ebay projector lights or something else???
I hope no one minds me reviving this thread but since both Mikeeford and Brillant have these lights, here seemed as good as anywhere.
I also have these Russian sourced lights (1 year now) in my 1998 4Runner, and they look good but I'm not satisfied with the light output/ quality from the low beams.
High beams are good enough.
I tried the TYC replacement option before these and I didn't like them either. But they did arrive with the reflector cup bent (in front of the bulb) so that may have had something to do with the poor cutoff/ pattern.
So I'm looking for advice on what to do next.
Options:
1. Put PIAA LED or Phillips LED (H7's) in the Russian low beam spot, if possible...?

I need good low beams due to wildlife on the unlit roads here but it's too busy to use the high beams often.

Should they just have Halogens in them or is LED ok even though they're not projectors?
I really like the look of the Russian ones so would putting LEDs in the low beams work better or at all? I have Osram Night Breaker Unlimited bulbs (H7) in the low beams now.
Fwiw I still have the TYC's and original '98 Toyota headlamps...

I just got mine from the same Russian Company. I'm excited to get them installed. Any tips for me before I open up this can of worms? Do you have a list of additional items you had to buy to make this work by any chance?
