3rd Gen 4R- Which ARB bumper is this, will it fit and where can I purchase?

Hey guys..

In the market for a new bumper. From what I understand, there is a ARB front bumper made for the Tacoma, but also fits a 3rd gen 4runner. The one below in image is shown on a 2nd gen, but I'm wondering if this will fit on a 99 3rd gen? I love the look of this bumper. Can someone please point me in the right direction, provide me with a model# and where to purchase?

I believe the bumper is an ARB Bull Bar with winch. Im not going to be adding a winch as of yet, but will in the future.

for us 3rd genr's, we'll need the Tacoma version, but numerous member use them with no issues.
Autoanything.com has them for $866 shipped, but with a phone call and some haggling you can get them to come down about $40 bucks or so, I'm planning on getting one in a few months as well

Went to the site and the images look completely different. Are they just showing newer versions? Which year Tacoma do I search for and do you know the model# for the ARB Deluxe Bull Bar?

no problem man. I searched using a 1999 Tacoma. and yea they have just stock pictures listed, check out Wheeler's Offroad or Toytec as well, they have the same bumper with better pictures, or just search here on the forum.

The ARB is for a Tacoma but fits the 4Runner (probably since they have to be certified for airbags in Oz and apparently don't sell the 4Runner there). The PN is 3423020.

Shipping weight is about 150 lbs, but it comes on a heavy pallet. It probably adds about 80 lbs, after you remove the factory bumper and mounts.

You have to modify the frame rails (cut off the ends) and guys usually weld 1/4" steel plates on the end of the rails for support. You should be able to find some good how-to threads, and even some videos. ARB has changed the mounting hardware over the years so it's best to get it then see what you need to do.

866-877 and best of all free shipping to your doorstep. However I might just wait and see if there are some deals during the holiday season. To be honest I don't think there will be on the bumper, but I am also in the market for suspension and winch, both of which I think I might be able to save on during the Christmas and Black Friday sales!

FYI: and you already know this, but amazon list the 4runner bumper as a tacoma bumper, but if you look at the reviews most of them are from 4runner customers.

2nd Gen vs 3rd Gen ARB Bumpers

If you don't already know this the photo in your original post is an ARB bumper on a 2nd Generation 4Runner.

Below is a pic of the ARB bumper that fits the 3rd Generation 4Runner. These are two different bumpers and are not interchangeable as far as I know. Both versions of these ARB bumpers were made for the Tacoma but are easily modified for the 4Runners of the same body style.

ARB 3423130 and (seems like this one has newer fog light section)
ARB 3423020? (what I see on most 3rd gen 4runners)

I think the #3423020 is the older style and the one that fits the 3rd gen 4runners better..

ARB Bumper

Below is some info and pics copied from my build thread...

On Friday my ARB bumper arrived. I purchased this new bumper for $980.86 shipped. I had a difficult time finding one, so I'm relieved to have it in my possession. The Fedex truck dropped off a box on a pallet that was twice as big as I was expecting. The shipping weight was 220 pounds. You can barely see my 4Runner behind the mailbox kiosk.

After I opened the box there was a lot of empty space. The box had these laminated cardboard reinforcements on the edges, so the bumper was very well protected.

The bumper barely fit in my 4Runner.

I cut two holes in the packaging so that I could grab the bar to unload the bumper and bring it inside. This is the only way I could have done this by myself.

After cutting and wrestlng with the packing materials for about 10 minutes an ARB bumper begins to emerge.

Here is everything that comes in the accessory box. By the way everything was sealed, packed and labeled I could tell that this bumper had never even been opened since it was originally shipped from Australia. I was considering used ARBs, but now I'm glad that I found a new one.

So far my expectations for this bumper have been exceeded. The quality and workmanship is top notch. I had not seen one of these in person, so I had no idea how beefy this bumper was. The bull bars are much larger in diameter than I thought they would be. I have an average size hand... when I wrap my hand around the bull bar my thumb and middle finder only overlap by about 1/4". On the ends the bull bar goes through the plate and is welded to the inside of the bumpers below the turn signal cutouts. The triangular supports also continue behind the front plate. Everything seems to be very well thought out on this bumper. Even the small rubber "bumperettes" look great.

I am going to save up for a Warn M8000 winch. Below is a photo of a 3rd Generation 4Runner with a small Warn emblem on the driver side of the bumper that balanced out the ARB logo on the left. I'm going to do that... I'm always thinking (and copying others ideas) about small details like that.

I want my bumper to look just like this after it has been painted. Before I got the bumper I was thinking I would get it sand (or media) blasted and then spray paint it a metallic silver with a satin finish. Now after seeing the bumper I think that there is a good chance I will screw it up trying to spray paint it myself. After I get it sand blasted I'm thinking I should get it powdercoated a metallic silver color with a satin finish and make sure that I have the same color paint in a spray can for touch ups. The 4Runner below belongs to drdollittlerwc... I've sent him a message to see how it was painted (or if it was powdercoated).

I recently bought the ARB 3423020 from Auto Accesories Garage delivered to my house for $797.09. They have online promotions and was able to get 8% off the listed price (had to call them because the promo of 15% off excluded the ARB) the guy went ahead and gave me 8% which knocked the total to $797 with free shipping...I began installing last night, I need to find a build thread that shows where to cut the frame rails. It is a well built bumper. It was delivered in 4 days.

Mine was $981 delivered (after discounts), but this was when there was only about 5 left in the U.S. They were on backorder with ARB and the manufacturer wasn't shipping them to the U.S. for at least 4 months. I agree that they are very well made.

Looks great! Have you thought about color matching the ARB and Limited trim/flares either silver or black? How much is your gap? I'm thinking that 3/8" is probably optimal. Any ARB owners know what is the smallest gap you can have without risking damage to body panels?

Looks great! I love my ARB bumper. A lot of people think they are way too chunky buy in my opinion, they are the best-made bumper you can buy. What other bumper is designed with a proper crumple zone and air bag approval?
