3rd Gen 4Runner Lift Information and FAQ's

They do not work.

What is it about the coilovers that doesnt work, is it the mounting plate on top? Or the coil springs themselves. Too big or too tall?? I found a set at a junkyard, but dont want to go to the trouble of removing them off the truck just yet.

I ask because if I cant bolt up the whole thing, then I wonder if I could use just the coil spring and my top plate and shock.

I believe the coils are the wrong diameter and the bolts don't line up. I'm not 100% sure on that, but I don't know of anyone who has sucessfully made it work so there is definitely a big issue to overcome. The FJC and 4th gen 4runners I believe are compatible.

Ok good to know, my only reason for thinking they might work was that I just looked on Toyteclifts.com, and they list OME 883's as an option for 05-10 Tacomas, which are also an option for 3rd Gens as well. I think I will go ahead and risk the money on this set I found and see how it works. Thanks for the insight though.

Listen to Steeze, he deals with lifts for all years and has far more knowledge about that than I do. You're right, I didn't think about that 883s are taco coils 1st and formost.

read below. The front coils go in the rear of the 3rd gen. the rear coils go in the rear of the 2nd gen

The FJ80 Landcruiser Spring
a cheap effective way to achieve a good amount of lift and flex is to install FRONT springs from a FJ80 (1991-1997) Landcruiser in the REAR of the 3rd gen.

Every shop is gonna be different but i usually tell people 4-5 hours of labor should be average

It's surprising how much you'll learn about your suspension when you install the lift yourself. I know not everyone has the means to do it, but if you can I recommend it. Then when/if something breaks on the trail you'll know what it is, why it broke, and what you can do to prevent it from happening again.

Yes hell yes do it quicker than ASAP. I destroyed my front Revo's after doing less than 50 miles without an alignment after my lift.

I ordered a 3 inch spacer for the front of my 1997 t4r and 2 inch spacer for the back. when I got it they sent me a '06 to '10 fj rear spacer. I have read that they will fit the 4th gen t4rs but what about the 3rd gens?

Yep, fronts should be fine but rears whill need to be replaced
