3rd Gen 4Runner's capability

Hey all,

Above is the pic of the capability of the Toyota Prado:

The above Prado shares the same platform as our THIRD gen 4Runner. Approach & departure angles are similar to the third gen 4Runner. Look at our breakover angle (29 degrees)!!!

Incline = 42 degrees (inverse TAN of 0.9)
Side slope = 41 degrees

Pretty cool stats!

For comparison, the Toyota Land Cruiser can do 45 degrees incline and side-slope. Water treading is similar.

well..
one thing that i have to repotr about the 2003 4runner...

i went for off roading..Thr truck did what it supposed to do..

everything was great..

mudd was no problem at all..

on the way back..truck starting to shake, vibrate over 45 miles an hour...
i could not figure out wwhat was going on...the wheels, and side of the truck was covered with mud and sand....

as soon i got back to Houston ..i decided to get a car wash..was the wheels ..now truck is fine..i have never seen anything like it.....i used to drive my 2000 xterra with mud on it week after week..never had such problem..i always go to the same spot..anybody had a similar problem with their 2003 4runner....

i was expetcing 4runner to be more tolreable to mud..at least better tolerance than 2000 xterra..i will ask the dealer when i get there for oil change....
any ideas, recommendations anybody??

It is actually quite common to have "unbalanced" wheels after off-roading. With all the mud (especially clay in Houston) sticking to your wheel/tires, it will seem like your wheels are off-balanced. In addition, the front IFS of the 4runner (3rd gen at least) is notorious for being VERY sensitive to unbalanced wheels. I think the rack-and-pinion on the 4Runner is really sensitive! (Thus, the Haweka adaptor is required when balancing your tires...see ACCESSORIES section.)

There should be no problem with your 4runner.
