3rd gen almost died

x2..I learned my lesson that just because a mudhole isn't deep one day doesn't mean somebody with 52's didn't rut it out to hell and back the next. I was sitting on my axles with tires shooting water 10ft in the air, out in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone service and a 10 mile hike. Lukily I was found but still took 9 hours to get home. The lesson was learned.

wow that is way worse than mine, i got the truck out, cleaned(sort of), running in less than 3 hours, and being a toyota i drove home too :thumb3:

The 9 hours was spent seeking help from the local redneck kids that found me which involved several attempts from their family members with supposedly large 4wd drive trucks that turned out to be a 4x4 s10 and then a 2wd f150 neither of which would budge my 80LC. So in the end I found a guy that pulled me out. I paid him $50 then pulled one of the redneck kids out of another mudhole he told me repeatedly I should be glad I got stuck in the one I was in and didn't drive off in the second because it was twice as deep. Next thing I know he was driving off in the deeper one trying to get a wood stump on the other side to burn. At this point I'm thinking :wtf: Well he ended up swimming out of his 2wd nissan pickup with the cab almost fully submerged. I towed him home afterwards.

Man that sucks, just be glad it wasn't salt water. I know...what idiot would drive their truck that deep into salt water?:hiding:

My ABS light still hasn't gone out either and I like it that way. Have any issues with the security system? Now's a good time to Herculine the floors!

Just in case your power seats start having issues like mine did, this will save you some $ http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/79996-wanna-fix-buster-power-seat-rear-heat-fan-motor.html

no only did he end up in salt water, so did his friend!! I'm guessing they got stuck and the tide came in.

Either way that's horrible

yeah dont know why abs light is on it was off for a while then on again but im not worried abs on t4r sucks anyway, security is not working right now so i can only lock the truck with the key instead of remote, the toyota security light is not on anymore when i shut off the truck, herculine the floor is deff in the future, but i just need to clean up first still got a lot of dirt that doesnt want to come out in little corners and stuff.

to OP: damm man thats not a hole.. thats a crater with water in it HAHA
was it me only? or did the youtube have no sound? the part where you opened the door if that had sound.. HAHAHAH all in all at least you got it out and truck is still working.
hope you get it all figured out.

and to SALT WATER PIC:
HAHAHAHAHHA dude that is classic, gotta be top 5 pictures for 4runner, you guys look like you just drove straight into the ocean HAHA

yeah truck is fine the cleaning up part sucks tho, living in hawaii you should know the mud over there, well this mud is exactly like that, when dried it was hard as rocks, makes cleaning very hard

.
I'm trying to think how two 4Runner's casually end up in 3-4 feet of ocean water.

1. go to beach.
2. bbq, drink, do some crack, take nap.
3. wake up 8 hours later.
4. oh sh!t "dude wheres the beach!" "dude wheres my car?"

....man you are brave for posting a pic like that....

Yeah we kinda did, well actually I backed in, that's why mine was pulled out within a few hrs and the other one, well the other one wasn't. It was a fun sand bar that went out about 450ft, that was at low tide. Not a fun way to end the day. Never again

mmm now i understand, sandbars are fun, except when your having to much fun not watching the tide HAHA
classic photo man!

but yea hopefully you guys washed them babies real good!

A couple bottles of Purple Power and lots of fresh water rinsing/pressure washing and I was happy with mine. Other one wasn't so lucky, but at least he got another Toyota.

That is one big mud hole. Good to hear that you're still running well after a good cleanup.

Speechless....

I spat a bit of taco meat on my keyboard! :lmao:

Previous owner is on his way to his chick's house in your 4Runner. He's smoking cigs because he's nervous. He's gonna ask her if she wants to try something freaky. They're going to walk the dogs together, so Muttface Magoo is in the back, shedding like mad. He's got some flowers for her, and some change in case he needs to show her that he's a generous guy and give some cash to that bum that's always standing on the off ramp.

His plan doesn't work. He tosses the rubber he brought along over his shoulder as he hauls out of town to go camping after he finds out she's not that kind of girl.

If I had any taco meat in my mouth, reading that would have made me spit some on my keyboard. Thanks for painting the behind the scenes story. Now I can fully visualize how it all went down.

I think i know whats up with the abs. The abs module is in the passenger kick panel. It is as low or lower than the front speakers. If that got wet, and had power to it, or an abs signal i could see it frying the system. You could check the fuse. its a 60A. I sunk my 4runner and it got wet, but it was fine. I just could see it frying
