did you change the hard ware when you re did the pads, to ensure the brake pads are moving freely?
I don't think the limited has larger brake rotors. Primarily because the wheels are still restricted to 16 in. I'm trying find documentation to know for sure.

You are incorrect. They didn't.
Only Base & SR5 models with 15" wheel's came with smaller calipers.
Limited's didn't come with 5 speed tranny's another reason not to own one.:whoo:

I can't recommend this enough. I did exactly as described (231mm upgrade with '06 Tundra calipers and factory pads/pins/retaining plates/etc; also upgraded to stainless steel brake lines from Wheeler's Off-Road) and am VERY happy with the results. After upgrading, the pedal provides 1.) initially a little more more bite, followed by 2.) more light and intermediate pedal control, followed by 3.) far more outright stopping power when called upon. I also serviced the rear drums shortly after the front and now it feels like Toyota probably should have done it in the first place IMHO.

My bad. The 16" wheel and tire option came with larger rotors only.

I just bought a 2000 4Runner limited... Yes it's automatic but couldn't pass up the deal. Did the limited come with larger brake rotors or is the tundra upgrade recommended if so which year tundra brake setup is recommended for my year 4Runner?
Hello. Where can I get the kits for the brakes. I thought I was going to get in a wreck coming down from 285 last night. this is newer pads and coated roaters. 6,000 miles. Thanks

I had very serious warping of my rotors. So bad it felt like the steering wheel was going to reverberate out of my hands when I was coming down I-70 from the mountains.
I did some research and found that the front rotors installed on the 3rd gen's were under sized so they warp really easily with stock equipment. I upgraded to a more performance type rotors & pads from AJ-USA Auto Imports. I got matching EBC parts from them and couldn't be happier.
I will admit I wish they would have told me these things come from the UK and it will take 2-3 weeks to get them. Oh well, once I got them installed I haven't had any more issues. I'm currently at over 10K miles on these and I have no warping so far.

Tundra Brake Upgrade
I did the Tundra Brake Upgrade a few years ago and I would like to re-do it again. But, can't find my folder with the parts I used to do it. I think I might have used 1997 Tundra Brakes,Non- Slotted Rotors. I did have to do the Dust Shield partial remover for clearance. Can anyone help me out or at least direct me to the thread that covers the how to and possibly the parts #'s to complete this job ? I have a 2002 4 Runner SR5,V-6, 4WD with 207,000 miles and my Red Brakes Warning Light just came up on my Dash indicator yesterday. There's 2 different caliper options for tundra brake upgrade. Do your calipers have 13WE or 13WL stamped on them?

I'm pretty sure they are 13WL because that's what I replaced the old 13WE 199mm when I did the Tundra Brake Upgrade the first time.Also, THANKS for responding back to me. I think all I'm going to have to do is replace the Rotors;Calipers; Brake Pads;Shims. I had already done the Dust Shield trim the first time I got this done. I just can't find my original info from the first time I had this done and I need the correct parts #'s and parts to get it done again and which year Tundra Brakes to use.

Why do you want to replace the calipers? Are you wanting OEM or aftermarket?
