3rd Gen Bull Bar--Pruduction ?'s

I was wondering if anymore info is avaliable on the possiblity of Westin making the 3rd Gen Bull Bar for the 00'- 02 models.

I saw the thread with the one showing the fabrication pictures and the changes a member of this site made to make it work and he mentioned that Westin was being contacted to make one for our trucks.

Does anyone know if this has been done? I did not see our make listed ontheir site.

Bull bar

I've been looking for a while and haven't found a thing. There are a couple of full grill guards available but they cost more than the '92 Corolla I bought a few years ago.

Yea--I'm not interested in the full grill guard. One member on here bought a Westin made for the Taco and fabbed up a mount for underneath the truck but I remember reading he was working with Westin on production plans and I was hoping they had came to and agreement but I cant get a reply or any info.

No, they are not doing this. But, I can get you one that will work for your truck and all you need is about $10 from Home depot to make it bolt up. I have in stock as well.

Jason--is it the same setup that was shown on here with some extra pipe and a few bolts. I worry about the sturdiness of it and the actaul look of it. Can you post some pics of your product, I am interested in a Stainless one.

Thanks.

this is the look I want

But this part worries me

That's the one! No problem with sturdyness, I'll let the owner explain, sent him an email to reply.

What's the price on yours and does it it come in stainless versus Chrome? Also does it get in the way of removing the skid plate for oil changes? The look kinda bothers me since its not a stock look.

Well, It's been on my truck since I posted, and it hasn't moved a bit. You need to realize that the pipe that I used isn't a "small" sized/gauge pipe. I can sit my 195lb ass on it, jump on it, etc, and not have any problems....

It doesn't get in the way at all of anything, and it is plated stainless steel. Lifetime warranty, and it actually fits pretty well!

They aren't making a kit for it...it was discussed, but beings there isn't a HUGE demand, it's not worth their time.

I know it looks ghetto, but it's dirt cheap, you can't see the mounts, and it's strong as hell.

Do what you like, but I think it adds tons to the truck.

Hope that helps, and I know Jason will get you what you need.

Brett

Thanks for the info. Did you take any pics of how you made the bolt mounts inside the extra pipe by any chance.

See, that's what makes this so easy...there's no custom fab work needed. It's literally the pieces of pipes (which act JUST as a spacer), longer bolts, and then the mount plates that come with the bullbar. That easy.

If you follow my original post, it tells you step by step what to do.

Brett

Ok--see where the extra pipe goes into the Bar but i thought there was something in there for the bolts to attach to for support like it been welded in or something--I'll reread again to see if that clarify's what I am missing.

OH! Well, there is a bar with a Nut in it (Hard to explain) welded inside that tube about 1/2" or so....and the bolt goes through to that.

Brett

I think he thought, by looking at the pic, that that tube was hollow and just wedged in. But it's not, and is very solid since the nut screws into it.

It comes welded, you don't do anything but buy those two pieces and 10 min of your time with no special tools. Pm'd you with link to order.

Since this is my first post, I'll introduce myself. I was previously the President of the Tennessee Chapter of the TTORA Tacoma 4x4 club. I've had several Toyotas, one highly modified 97 Tacoma. I got tired of driving "big foot" to work every day so I traded that 97' in on a 99 TRD and drove it for a while stock and wheel'd pretty regularly.

After a couple years I kinda got tired of worrying about busting up my daily driver and got back into motorcycles after a 5 year hiatus, so that's what I fool with now. I have a site at http://hooliganbiketech.dynup.net that lists mods and how to's, videos, etc.

I've been looking to make my 2002 SR5 4Runner a little more sporty. A Bull Bar is something on the list but I've not been able to find anything to fit, and from reading this thread it sounds like there's not one without doing some slight fab work. Can you PM me the price of one of these in SS as well as a link to the article showing how to install it?

Thanks in advance.

Many thanks. Is that 99-02 price accurate on yoru site? Something seems off there.

Also, this is mainly to hold some HELLA lights, does the safari bar bolt up in the same manner?

Your PM did not include a link to the thread showing how to install so if you could provide that I'd be grateful.

Fixed. :) Yea, they are similiar, just many prefer this look/design and the skidplate.

Install info from 4runner owner "bigacuralvr"

The install brackets were about 2-3" too short. So, here is what I did to get it to fit. So, here is what I did.

The actual brackets install where your tow hooks are. I used mine still, but they aren't there for anything more than a spacer. I put the bracket ontop of the tow hook, then bolted it up to the frame....

After those where in, I took the 4.5" x 1/2" bolts, and put them through the holes, and through the steel pipe that I bought from Home Depot in the pipe section. It comes 2" around by 3" long. It fits perfectly!!
4RunnerBullBar007.jpg~original

Now, tighten the bracket to bull bar bolts, readjust the bracket to frame bolts, and tighten those up too. And, you're done.

Now, it is solid as ever, I can put my 200lbs on it, and it doesn't move a bit. I also wired up a set of PIAA 510's, which look pretty good, IMO....(Thats my Escort 8500 hardwired in...custom huh?)

Well, here is the finished product:
