3rd Gen. Burn Out

Hey guys, my 3rd gen. 4runner has front hydraulic disk brakes and rear is mechanical drum brakes. I have a set of tires on my Runner that are about to be changed to new ones, and ive never "peeled out" or anything and just want to try one. Question is, if i hold the brake (not ebrake) will it work my front AND rear brakes? Or just the front? If it is just the front, then its ok to hold the brake and give it gas right?

Oh and please dont think im some crazy guy behind the wheel or i treat my Runner like garbage.....ive just always wanted to try one.

Anyhow........Id appreciate anyhelp you an give me, Thanks! :D

Your brake pedal will activate all 4 brakes and your rear drums are hydraulic with a mechanical mechanism for the e-brake.

However, it should still be possible to do a small burnout, since your front brakes are more powerful than the rear. Not much much good for your brakes or transmission, but you should be able to get one rear wheel spinning while standing still.

You can also put on the brake hard and hit the gas to get the revs up, then take your foot off the brake. That's often how car mags get the best 0-60 times. I wouldn't recommend doing that with a vehicle you own though.

I probably shouldn't have told you this. Now you'll go and do abusive things. ;):
 
lol Dont worry, i dont abuse my 4runner, most people actually tell me that i care too much for my car. I guess theres no way to do a standstill burnout without the rear brakes being applied while doing so. Or is there?
 
Stand on brake, then start pressin down the gas until the wheel starts to spin or smoke, should be about 2000 or 3000 RPM where the wheel or wheels will start to spin, then just hold it their and burn rubber, after awhile you can just let up on the brake and pull away:)

If you have an automatic, don't do it too long. Since there's theoretically no air running through the radiator you can permanently damage the transmission by building up an excess of heat. If you have a 5spd, then go for it. But make sure that plume of smoke is indeed from the tires and NOT the clutch. Ask me how I know.
 
This is the oldest thread I have ever seen. Didn't know forum went back to 2004. Anyone know when it started?
 
What is all this step on the brake noise? All you have to do is step on the gas really hard. :caked:

You could do what they did - chain it to something so you don't have to hold the brake.

I have some beater tires to throw on and burn off but I am too lazy and tired to change the wheels. Maybe when I finish my shop.

E-locker has to be on so both tires wear evenly. :bigok:
