3rd Gen Craigslist Scam - anybody recognize this one?

My favorite is the soldier who's being shipped out of states in days and wants to ship it to you on the super cheap, just send half upfront to cover shipping, jeje.... :cowboy:
 
That truck was posted for sale on the site at some point not too long ago I believe. Can't remember the username though.
 
Wonder what the logic is pricing it so low. Surely you could have asked 4X that and still scammed effectively.
 
I can't figure these out...what are they trying to do? A. get your #? B. get your email? C. hope you show up somewhere dark and secluded with $1500 cash to rob you?

What is the end game?

End game...rip you off!! Just google it up...and see how flippen stupid people are. There are about a dozen ways they can rip you off. MORONS...as in REALLY F'N STUPID people donate to these scams every day. No you can not be a victim and get ripped off if you are that STUPID!!! Not uncommon at all if you list something on Craigs lists the scam emails and texts start right away.

I constantly F with them if on text....do not reply via email...they can and will send viruses once they realize your F'n with them. I had a guy willing to pay my "bank transfer fees" of $5,000 if I would send him my account number so he could transfer $20K + $5K for full payment on the last car I sold.

If you check Lexington, KY Craigslist that runner is listed right now for $9000.00. I texted the guy and asked if he still had the original front bumper, he got back to me. It's an 859 are code which is correct for Lexington; I asked if he wanted me to put a link to his ad on this forum and he didn't understand what a forum is and passed. It's still listed as of his morning.

End game was the wrong phrase, I guess I meant through what conduit would they be able to rip you off. I guess I am just too naïve to think there are that many complete idiots out there that these scams work, but given their prevalence, somebody must be making money. I'd give a lot more credit to those robbed at gun point than those giving out any info to an online entity.
 
That exact same ad is posted twice here in Colorado. Once in the Denver CL and once in the Fort Collins CL. I think you know you've made it when a picture of your truck is used to get people to open an ad.

I'm not sure but I don't think it's the same one. Front bumper and wheels/tires are different. Nice runner none the less.

Didn't exactly know what to expect when I sold my 4runner but Craigslist scams definitely weren't on my radar, I guess in 2017 that's some sort of weird cyber compliment! I can happily report it went to a good home a little further south and I wouldn't be surprised if the new owner keeps us up to date with a few pictures from time to time. Certainly enjoyed my time on a great forum, I won't be too far away over on 'Mud!
