3rd Gen Craigslist Scam - anybody recognize this one?

I don't think they're really trying to get the whole $1500, they figure even suckers are not going to get scammed that bad. What they'll try to do is get a relatively modest amount of money from you, like $150 or so, 'for a deposit to hold the truck'. You know, because there are other interested buyers.
If you go for that they might try to move on to some sort of check scam where they send you a fake check that is rigged to clear verrrry slowly (i.e. drawn on some weird bank where they don't have online check clearing info your bank can query) and try to get some of the 'extra' back. Keep the extra for your trouble!
Who knows, if you fall for that too they might move on to other things.
But by and large, they are never going to try to meet anyone in person, they almost certainly aren't really trying for the full amount, they're successful if they get as little as 50 bucks out of a sucker.

Sorry if it's already been said... If there isn't a license plate on the vehicle it's most likely a scam. Most people will cover or obscure the plate but won't take it off all together.
That being said... It's always fun to play along with them and preemt their request for an eBay account or whatever bogus method they are trying to get you to pay with. I'll ask for their social security number and mothers maiden name or if it's a "woman" who's husband experienced and untimely demise I'll ask them out for a glass of wine and a romantic dinner

All those cars and trucks that have a gmail email address and a "too good to be true" price are all scams. I was looking for a car for my daughter and I saw hundreds of those listings. All formatted the same way. Pretty obvious if you ask me but being a powerseller on Ebay I can personally attest to the fact that there are ALOT of very stupid people out there.

Impossibly low? Maybe it's just beat on. He did include his plate number though. that might help determining if it's legit or not.
