3rd Gen. Front Grills

I was wondering if any one had pics of 3rd gen. 4Runners with grills that are body color painted (the newer ones came with these). I have a 1999 and it has a chrome grill which id like to replace with a newer factory body color painted one. Post pics of your grill if it is like that, here is what mine looks like now:

Hey thanks alot man, i have PhotoShop 7.0 and have tried doing that to a couple of my pics and it always came out looking like just black. But that one is really well done. Thanks again :D
 
Tricks of the trade ;)

Use the eyedropper to get a close match on color, then use the brush tool to paint. I set the opacity around 80% and set the mode to multiply.

Just incase you want to do a similar task in the future.
 
You didn't happen to ever get rid of your original '99 grille did you? I have a '97 and kind of want to update to your style, with the extra chrome. Just wondering if you were looking to sell it.

Yea, I did that on my 97, upgraded to the 99-00 style chrome grille.

Nothing really, just the grille. When I replaced my headlamps with the multireflector '01 style, I had to remove the grill. I don't remember the specifics, but it didn't require anything more than some screws/bolts. It was more simple than I expected. One big piece, I took the opportunity to clean it really thoroughly while it was off my truck.

You will need to buy a new emblem, in addition to the grille. The newer grille has a bigger over and bigger Toyota emblem to fit it. Emblem is around $20, grille, $120.
 
THANKS, SO MY CURRENT 97 HEADLIGHTS WILL STILL WORK? I JUST NEED THE GRILL AND EMBLEM, CORRECT? I MIGHT LOOK AROUND AND TRY TO FIND A USED ONE.
 
I don't think they are using actual TOYOTA parts. If you look, they show their own part #, which is different from the Toyota part #.
 
THANKS, JASON I JUST ADDED SILVERSTAR BULBS TO MY HEADLIGHTS, I AM WANTING TO GO WITH CLEAR BUMBER LIGHTS, YOU SELL FOR 49.99 SET, NOW DO YOU CARRY THE PIAA BULBS FOR THE BUMBER? I AM PLANNING ON ORDERING SOME ITEMS FROM YOU, BUT I AM GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT TILL AFTER CHRISTMAS (I AM SPENDING MY 4R FUND ON OTHER PEOPLE:) ).
 
I have seen all black 3rd gen 4r's and I really like the look. I think that it's a sport edition but I'm not sure.. I'd like to add a hood scoop and get eveyhting chrome painted black.. Do you guys know what I am talking abuot? Anyone have any pic's of the 4R I have in mind? I really like your bug guard JasonB!!!
 
Thanks. I have that bug shield in black now. The carbon style was discontinued.

I do have a carbon filber hood with the scoop that avail. It's a copy of the toyota hood, but is much lighter, and has less parts you need to buy. You can also paint it as well.
