3rd gen fuel sending unit discontinued????

I have been hunting online for a new sending unit for my 2000 T4R LTD 4X4 and it looks like it is discontinued (Sending Unit - Toyota, Part# 83320-35600).

Has anyone else run into this and if so, did you find a solution to work around or another unit that would work?

You do know that Oem manufacturers discontinue and stop producing parts for vehicles when they hit a certain age limit? Gm, Ford, Chrysler Corp, Toyota, all do it. That’s why there’s an aftermarket. Typically it’s 20 years for the benchmark but I’ve noticed other parts are no longer available through litha or camelback

Yeah man, I get that......pretty common knowledge.

Just wondering if anyone has used an aftermarket or if they have used the 2001 T4R sending unit (Toyota Part#83320-35620) with any success or issues? The 2001 sending unit is still available.....

For those of us keeping our rigs, this might be a good part to get and have at the ready. Amayama says they still have it. However, if there is an advantage to using a 2001 sending unit and it is compatible, I would rather get that from a local dealer.

Probably a different connector on the sending units. RockAuto shows different part numbers so while the sender might be the same I’m gonna assume the connector for it is not. I’ve used the Spectra Premium products on other vehicles including my dads truck. I installed it almost 2 years ago and there’s been no issue. I’ve got no issue with aftermarket parts.
