3rd gen gas tank interchangeablity

Long story short, I need to replace my gas tank, or at least the top/sending unit cover.

are all 3rd gen 4runner tanks the same as far as fuel line/electrical connections are concerned? I suppose they are all shaped the same.

Got to find a replacement and need to know of any changes, if any, throughout the years.

They should be, maybe the 00-02 are different. 100% that 97-98 are identical.

Mine is a 96, so I'm going to try and limit my search to 96-98 at first. My tank is ok really, just need the sending unit cover....I messed up one of the hard lines coming out of it.

01-02 are the same but different from 96-2000.
