3rd Gen in Deep Snow

maybe wrong forum-there is something to learn here though. With enough of the right combination of parts, throttle control and experience they can get you pretty far and back. There isn't a time when I get stuck ever. I eventually have just turned around each time without hassle.

Snow wheeling in a couple feet xmas evening..Truck is runs great in these conditions. I can't imagine how Dirtco must feel running his large set up.



Missionary ridge road-We had received snow for 4 days straight. This road is used by cross country skiers, snow mobilers and my buddy and I right now. It was essentially 20'+ the while way. Eventually it got steep enough and the drag was too great for me to continue. In the first vid I get stuck on the corner right away. Real impressed with how much further I ended up making it.

Not he greatest vids but you can see just how deep the snow is when my tires are pushing through it. Also can see where my buddies rear diff dragged in front of me.

I think I have a picture taken in this same spot. It would have been about this time of year 27 years ago while I was in school at Fort Lewis.

With snow, traction is usually less the issue as is ground clearance and tire floatation. That said, with a solid surface underneath, any old 4x4 with tall tires can get through most snow as long as they're not dragging their undercarriage and getting stalled out by the whole plowing function (snow gets heavy and can majorly hold you back when you try to plow through).

When you get ice, however, you just have to have the correct tires or traction devices on your tires. With the intelligent awd in a Subaru, if you had good ground clearance, you could destroy some deep snow.
