3rd gen MUFFLER/TIP upgrade

I have a 2000 4Runner limited 4x4 that just hit 100,000 miles.

My mechanic told me about upgrading to a Magnaflow muffler with a new tip. He can do all this for $250.

What kind of improvements and gains will this get my truck. How about noise?

Good price and if it's the longer muffler it'll sound great w/o being annoying.
Power increase won't be noticeable but you'll get a little more mid range power when you accelerate.

well everyone is quiet on this thread....

I have the Magnaflow installed. The tip looks great, better than that old rusted pipe.

Its defintely louder than I expected but I do like it. Sounds awesome accelerating onto the freeways and the power increase is there too! Overall Im happy I did this. I will post some pictures tonight!

I went today to a local muffler place to get a quote. Dude said about 380 for the muffler and custom cat-back exhaust. Do you think thats reasonable or could i do better?

You can do better. Basically you just want to change the muffler and the tip and really nothing else. It should be able to be done for no more than $300.
