I own a 2002 4Runner 3.4 L/V-6 . I need some help/info on how to remove the clear dash lens cover that covers the speed & tach area.Somehow a couple of small bugs have gotten behind the lens and it's been creeping me out for about a year now.I made one attempt to try to remove it myself, but it looked like it ran into several other complicated ares that may need to be removed first. There are -2 screws just under the dash lip overhang on each side of the dash overhang. Are there anymore ??? Anybody done this or have info as to pictured instructions or diagrams ??? Sure would appreciate the help ! "THANKS".....Hi-Tek RedNek:shrug:

-You need to start by removing the fuel door release and hood release latches that are each secured with 2 philips screws to the lower finish panel.
-Once those are removed the latches will slide back and out from the panel.
-Then remove the 4 10mm bolts (1 in each corner) of the lower finish panel. You may have an interior temperature sensor attached to the panel the needs to be unclipped.
-Now you can pop off the ignition cylinder trim piece by pulling it straight out.
-The dimmer knob also pops off by pulling it straight out. The rheostat is secured to the trim with a 12mm nut and can be removed with a 12mm deep socket, iirc.
-You should have access to all 4 screws holding the instrument cluster trim piece now; the 2 at the top you already described and 1 to each side of the steering wheel. You will need to lower the steering wheel to squeeze the trim piece out.
-The instrument cluster also has 4 screws holding it in place but you don't have to take those out to get the clear lens off. Just look at where the tabs are and use a flat head screwdriver to depress the tabs as you pull slightly on the lens cover.

*If you decide to clean the lens while it's out then I strongly suggest you use only microfiber cloths so it doesn't get scratched. I used some Meguiar's car wax on the inside and outside of the lens and it looks almost new again, fyi

Follow what you need in here, it shows how to take that part off, these pics should help with what 004Gunner said.

Any idea if this is similar to the Fourth Generation? Mine is scratched and I want to replace for $31 part from Toyota
