3rd Gen New Suspension Time... what Part #s?

I bought a 1996 4runner Limited, with the below suspension. It had 155,000 miles a the time... and now 18 months later, it has 180,000 miles, and the suspension feels a bit tired. So I'm looking to upgrade the suspension while keeping the same look/ride height. Can anyone recommend all the parts/part #s they'd use? This includes any little odds and ends recommended.. like screws/washers/new bushings, dust boots, etc.

The reason I'm asking is because I believe the familiar bilstein shocks most would recommend have stopped being made, or have changed part #s.

CURRENT SUSPENSION:
front: 3" lift in front... some oldish model of Fox remote-res coilovers. (I'd like to keep the 3" lift up front or maybe even go to 4")

rear: 4-5" lift in back when empty... sits nice and level with the front with a few hundred pounds of gear. I'd love to keep this look. Sonoran steel land cruiser springs and some kind of longer bilstein shock with dustboots.


NEW SUSPENSION GOALS:
-keep the 3" front and 4-5" rear lift.
-keep the rear land cruiser springs.
-swap in bilsteins all around, or coilovers in front/bilsteins in rear
-get new bushings/hardware that should be changed at the 180k mark.

Are the Bistein 6112s for the front only? What shock might y'all use in back (and is there still a good one made by bilstein to go under the Land Cruiser coils?)

The fox remote reservoir coilover in the front is probably a decent piece, even if it's older. Probably just get it rebuilt. You can't really go over 3" of lift in the front without a drop bracket type of lift.

If you have that much lift in the rear, you're going to need to look into a shock for an fj cruiser or 4th gen 4Runner or something with a longer extended and compressed length than what 3rd gen shocks provide. You'll also need to run an extended bump stop if running a shock with a longer compressed length.

Can't really provide part numbers because you're getting into a pretty custom setup. If you provide more details about your current setup, it's possible we can provide more accurate recommendations.

Thanks! Yeah, I'd like to get the fronts rebuilt, but garage space at my house (and time) mean that I have to take it to a mechanic to take the coilovers out. Then there's the downtime. Not sure I can survive without my Runner for a few weeks lol.

As for the rear, the shocks look like bilsteins. I'm just not sure what model (or if the part # is written somewhere obvious). They're Sonoran Steel LC springs in back, I believe.

Do folks do new bushings when they do new suspension? And any nuts/bolts needed?

Congrats on the purchase. There are number of things you can replace / upgrade. Part #s are listed on a lot of websites where they are for sale.

Fox makes great products. Contact them to see about a rebuild. Do not exceed 3" of lift up front.

For that much lift, you will have to run a longer shock. Up to you which one.
