your too accommodating.... the better question for you specifically is: how much did YOÚ pay?
 
I picked up a pair of guards off amazon for like 50 bucks, and I'm quite happy with them.
I can't remember the name of the brand. I'll get a couple pictures and the brand after work.
 
The problem with the tail light guards is they can get torn off if you do a lot of woods trail riding. I've never really understood the point of them anyways. They don't really offer up much protection. I think even in a zombie apocalypse sort of situation they still wouldn't hold up.. I need my stuff to be zombie proof, ya know?

This is very true. The black horse ones look to be identical to OEM in what I consider the most important weakness of the guards, which is that they have no forward attachment point. They are held on by 2 bolts under the rear hatch, so they are basically cantilevered around the light, with just a rubber nub supporting the forward edge of the guard. If you are travelling forward (which we are all quite oft to do), branches and other crap can easily get caught, and when they pull on it, they will just fold the guard back and damage your rear door. I have them on my rig because I do think they look good, but also because I am not hitting any trails. If I were, I would take them off first.

And just to make you all jealous, I got mine for free from a former member here after I helped him install a lift. I DEFINITELY wouldn't pay $50+ for these things. They really are for looks only.

Also yes they are only held in place by the 2 10 mm bolts that hold your tail light in. No forward attachment.

If you do get close to trees or branches ( bushes don't matter, just something that could put some good scratches in your paint). I would not have them.

But I don't. So who gives a damn. They looked good with my brush guard and my tube bumper. So I'm keeping them. I think I paid like $35 or $40 shipped.
 
There are similar like-kind product for less on ebay and amazon. However do your do diligence as far as quality and filament. Black horse maybe worth the difference, depending on your personal preference.

is there any tail light guards that attach to the rear light better??
or pretty much every single light guard all have the same opportunities for mounting??

DID you do the eBay/Amazon route to purchase them>???..

I'm more worried about mounting. if they all mount the same then i will go with the cheapest possible item because i plan on Line'X'ing them which improve strength and cover any kind of cheap metal...

this was my 1st post. from another member. it was easy to look over and get lost in my picture, i understand.

I've been through multiple car washes. And with those spinning cloth pieces beating on them. And wrapping up around them. I've seen no deformation with them. So I say they are strong enough to handle some good beating on brush and trees.
 
I bought a cheap pair of used ones from somebody on this forum. Then I modified them to match my aftermarket taillights. I didn't like how they only mounted with 2 screws either, so I also welded tabs onto the front-most tube for additional mounting points. I use 3M double sided automotive tape between the extra tabs and the rear quarter panel. They are VERY secure. I do not worry about tree branches ripping them off.
