The little extra tab you see if for a swing out lock..That way it stays open when you want it to

Our swing out is on the passenger side... We did it more to not have a tire blocking your field of view...

Right, it swings to the pass side, but when closed and when you are driving around, the wheel in on the drivers side, adding to the off-center weight.

We discussed this a bit I think in one of Addicted's threads about their swing away. I thought it would be better to put the wheel on the driver's side like you have, but the argument came that you would be adding more weight to the driver's side, that is already heavy because of the gas tank. Just curious how much more lean you get with a wheel on having so much weight on the drivers side (without full jerry cans on the swing away, which would balance out the wheel weight)

I had the same thought. Also if the swing is on the passengers side, how does the extra tab on the drives side keep the swing open? Shouldn't that tab be on the swing out side? I guess a picture would clear things up. Also a couple photos with the tire mounted to see lean like Nelson said, and a shot from inside the cab to see how much of your vision is blocked.
Will you have an option to have the side plates w/o holes? Doesn't seem like they serve a purpose other than getting caught in limbs, brush, or rocks which really isn't a good thing. I don't really mind the holes on the rear.

I think Proud Runner could best answer this one... as he has been running the early version of this.. The weight of the gas can and the heavy end of the High lift might just even it out..5 gallons of gas weighs ???

It will be available without holes... They do serve a purpose.. Remove weight and with dimple feature makes the thinner plate much more rigid

I will get more pics up in a bit

So what of us that dont want to run around with 5 gallons of gas at all times? It's a DD/WW. I dont want to tempt crackheads to break open the lock on the jerrycan holder to steal $25 of gas and cause $100+ of damage.

True.... I would run around town with out the swing out.. Pull one bolt and toss it in the garage.. Those same crack heads will steal your spare as well.. I had my spare stolen off the back of my jeep... Wheel locks and everything... Then a day latter tried to sell it back to me. The nerve...But very enterprising of him..

I would have been tempted to say yes, thanks you. Then put a tire iron in between their eyes. :bash:

Sweet! I think Im going to have to pick one of these up next spring. Love how tucked up it is underneath, looks like a sick departure angle.... I think it would be so sweet if the sides were non-dimple and the rear portion was kept dimpled.

Either way, SICK bumper!!

That thing is perfect, I wouldn't change a thing!

And it may have already been said, but what is the estimated weight of the bumper with tire and jerry can carriers?

Looking great Jim,
Really liking the plating and the top ledges you put in for steps.

Are these going to be production units? I know when we talked, It was going to be in house builds only.

A few questions,

1. Would it be better to run a piece of tubing for the side supports vs. just a piece of flat stock to angle iron mounted to the frame? My thoughts are that with the setup i'm planning for a rear tire carrier (150lbs + just for wheel and tire with a double sheer swing out hanging off rear quarter plating), I will need all the side support I can get. (We talked a little about this through text messages).

2. The rear section that drops down right at the back of the side wings. Is there any concern that part will be a potential hang up coming off a ledge or off a log or something? It looks like there is nothing in front of it to slide off for tree branches and what not. Seems like it could be a hang up.

3. Also do you have any side profile shots from the bumper level to see how snug it is to the rear hatch and how high up it sits in relation to the frame?

4. Is there room to mount a hitch pin hole farther back and cut back the hitch receiver flush to the plate so it doesn't hang off the back a couple inches?

5. Are the dimpled holes manditory? Or can you elect to keep it smooth?

All in all a great looking bumper and if the pricing of around 500 is there, I think you will have a customer. :bigok:

Any chance for a hybrid style like this for the front? Or is the only option going to be the plate one you offer? Would be cool to have a matching set.
