Ok guys, I have read a ton on this tire size with basically my same setup. I just got a set of 285/75/16 Duratrac's today, but will be mounting them tomorrow. My question is, I dont have any wheel spacers, yet, and im installing them on my stock rims. Will I be able to even run these tires for now as long as I dont do any wheeling, or will I have to have 1 1/4" spacers before I even install them. I will be getting some spacers in the next few days, but I cant have my runner down while im waiting on the spacers. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

ok, got my 285's on!! love em. no rub, but its really close, especially on the side grips of the tire to the UCA. gonna go ahead and head down to denver in the morn and pick up some spacers. i hear tons of bad about spacers, but are they safe to wheel on? im going to loctite everything, but are they really strong enough?

They are plenty strong. Get the Spidertrax spacers and you will be fine

LOL, Craigslist!! Im a frequent shopper. Have to drive about 90 miles for them, but for the price and if they are in as good of condition as he says and the pictures show, then itll be worth it!

I have friends that race Baja and use wheel spacers. They run the stock class and have to run stock wheels but can use spacers. They have no problems.

I was leary like you at first, but I'm running 1.25" spacers all around on my Runner & they're doing great. Wheeled it last weekend and it did perfect.

IMO, spacers get to be a bad idea if you get the wider ones (2" or wider). The 1.25" Spidertrax are the way to go to get you away from the upper A arm! Just make sure to follow directions (if yours come with any) and use loctite as you said, and you'll be good. I think the specs are:

...85 ft/lbs on your Runner's studs with loctite (putting the spacer on)
...and 65 ft/lbs on the spacer's lugs (putting the wheel on the spacer).

Someone correct me if it's different than that. My directions are at home in the box or I would verify...

Thanks tinman, from what ive read, those specs are correct for the spidertrax. I actually just got back from Denver and bolted them on!! They look great! Gonna be tough getting used to the wide stance, but itll grow on me. Makes those 285/75's look skinny, lol.
