Here is a great thread that I followed in preparation for this trip. There are lots of pictures and the trails are clearly named.

It took me quite awhile to go through all my pictures and sort them into the coolest and delete a bunch. Next time I will take less pictures! For these posts I've tried to take the top 20 pictures from each of the locations for the uploads.


General Trip Information
* Miles Travelled - Over 1,550 miles travelled round trip from San Diego, CA
* Gas - At ~ $3.5-$4 per gallon it was roughly $200 each way
* Crew - Me and my neighbour

Dumped with snow all day long yesterday and make for a heck a fun day today. Tomorrow I'm tackling the trail that I've been trying to ignore, but If I don't attempt it I'll regret it more.

This happened on the way back home from Oba on New Years Eve.... :'(

Was there any noise prior to the lower ball joint failure? How fast were you traveling?

No noises.... but hard to say really.... the road to Oba is filled with washboards and potholes. Don't think the joint itself failed.... I think the nuts that hold it on, let go. Still have to get a look at it. I left it on the road, and called a Towtruck to bring it back to town. Over $500.00 tow bill, and sitting in a garage parking lot til Saturday Morning. I got a ride back into town, and got into my Taco to go home to see our family back home.

It sounds like what happened to mine a few months back. The 4 bolts sheared of that hold the lca to the spindle, resulting the lbj bolt to grind itself off. I ended up replacing the bolts and the lbj and mechanically it was up. Good luck!
