Insurance cut me a check but I put it toward a used Camry because we needed a fuel efficient family car. Long story. Bottom line is I still have the 4Runner and I'm torn about fixing it up myself (pounding out the liftgate from the inside or finding one at a salvage yard) or selling it as is.

Lulu is a great camp dog, she really enjoys it as you can see haha.

Camping was awesome and Kimber did fantastic although she spent half the time sitting around camp in various chairs - maybe a GSP thing. I'm keeping mostly leashed until she's a bit bigger, but she loved it when I did let her loose and was running all over but always came back when I called - I can tell she's going to be a really good dog.

I'd take my time and search for a new gate...

overall you still have a great truck, and IF you want you could dedicate it into a trail rig. step up to bigger stuff as your skill increases... if you're into that sort of thing.

Get a rear hatch and a bumper from the junkyard, it'll be good as new.

It's pretty straightforward as I have seen, quite a few people around here have swapped them. Most of the plugs are where you can get to them.

From what I've noticed, it isn't just as simple as buying any 3rd gen hatch and calling it good. I've seen posts on here of people having wiring not matching when they get a hatch from a different year. Best bet would be to find one from your exact model year, which shouldn't be too hard with as many of these things that were sold.
