New here, and I finally picked her up.

2002 SR5 V6 2wd (I know). One owner, all MX done on time. 147k miles. Rust free CA and TX truck. Its going to be a fun daily. Oh, it was 2k cash. I think its a steal. I just drove it 900 miles and it was flawless.

Nice clean truck! Any plans for it besides being a daily?

Im going to remove the running boards, plastidip the bumpers and grill black. I already have 17" black TRD Sema wheels on the way, and a set of 245/70R17 Falken Wildpeak tires.

Id like to do a 231mm TBU and maybe a *tiny* lift like 1" coils and new struts.

Depends on what you think easy is. It Was very easy for me. Just a grinder and bondo and lots of time

Got the grille at my local junk yard, eBay the mesh, an emblem and matching paint

Didn’t cost much. Just took more time than I thought

Bought her a couple weeks ago. 6 hours of paint correction and touch up paint, wax, wash, removal of the running boards, and new wheels and tires. Night and Day difference.

Up front I have OME 881 springs 3”
And rear springs are toytec superflex
Along with a 1” body lift

Front is about 4” total and rear is 4.75”

Tires are 285/75/16 on stock rims

I was driving a 2018 civic sport and I had just recently paid it off. I was looking for used car so I could sell my civic and save the difference. Stumbled upon this 2001 4Runner with 84,000 miles . It’s in amazing condition for being 20 years old. The engine seems to be perfect and it drives real smooth. The only things I found wrong with it so far are

1) clicking/ticking noise from glovebox area when turning ac or heat on . Doesn’t matter which one . And also there is very little to almost no air coming out of the passenger side vent.
2) sun roof won’t open. Motor seems to be making a sound but it will not open.
3) 4WD light indication on the dash won’t light up as well as the 4tires light will not illuminate as well so I’m unsure if the car goes into 4WD or not at this time.
4) front passenger window will not roll down using the master switch as well as the passenger switch.
5) lastly rear air doesn’t blow . Don’t really care much about that probably won’t use it much.

I am most concerned about the 4wd lights not illuminating . I have searched the forum and saw a few threads on this so I guess when it warms up a bit I’ll have to get under there and try some of these possible solutions.

Damn less than 100k miles on a rig that old, that's a good find! 4WD lights not illuminating on the dash is very concerning however. Best of luck!

Trying my best to document the 4runner in stages as I upgrade it.

Questions or suggestions are very appreciated. Started by maintenancing everything on the truck and slowly modding here and there to accommodate my needs. For example, installed 2 inch body lift to fit used 33's to go to hidden falls with friends (lessons learned) and now I'm trying to modify in more intelligent ways.

Goal is a truck that drives well on the street and performs decent on trails. I have a fascination with pre-runners but I keep telling myself to not destroy a perfectly good 4runner in pursuit of building a race-truck....

Just finished sound deadening/insulation, trying to plug the 80 holes for limited cladding, and add creature comforts for camping. Next I need to relocate the outboard 5th gen rear shocks 1-2" higher to utilize their full up-travel.
