What is the significance of the import? Were there differences between Japanese and exported models? Do you have to modify anything (say, for emissions) when you bring it state side?

Main difference would be the driver being on the right hand side of the car and the engines that are available in japan vs here. Most the time if a car is past the 25 year federal emissions exemption they can be imported and driven here in a show car status where its limited miles per year. It really is dependent on the state. Some states don't allow for it. No modifications have to be made to the car once it's here though. I'm surprised people import these 4runners but they are getting harder and harder to find these days. I do miss my 2.7 sometimes but I wasn't driving it for years so it wasn't worth keeping around.

Hello new member here with my 1998 toyota 4runner sr5 v6 4wd in natural white with procomp series 51 wheels and falken wildpeak at3s I also put spot beam led projectors in place of the turn signals will be putting the turn signals into parking lights
