3rd gen - wanting to fit standard head unit in this big square hole

i went to change the cheap jvc head unit in my surf for my good alpine head unit, i removed the wee tray and the head unit and discovered a great big square hole with no support for fitting a head unit. what do i need to buy to fit a single din head unit ?

Holy cow. That is very weird. On mine it had metal brackets on each side that I mounted the HU to. I also had to buy a plastic CD holder/cell phone holder/general holder type thing to mount under the HU to fill in the extra space.

my truck is an import, i live in the uk and this is a 'surf' , my big square hole looks bigger than the console you guys have on your 4runners, the person that did this should be shot.

if i were to replace this part is it an all in one part and cost a lot of money?
