is it a police scanner?

Yeah, I don't have police frequencies programmed in, I use it for fire. I am in a volunteer fire department, so I use this to find out whats going on with my scene before I arrive, or just driving around, that way I could assist if I came upon something.

Very cool, man! Super clean install too. I wish I was on fire. Would do wildland firefighting if I could.

Keep it up! :)

I've been on 2 brush fires, 1 was out, but the smoke was so intense that i couldn't see the kid 5 feet in front of me, my deputy chief(a member on here) ended up pulling us off the hillside. My second one I was on an 1 1/2" forestry line, wetting down the burned area. Not my thing, it can go bad very quick. But, there are people like you that could handle it haha

Given that CT is one of those 'you can't blow your nose without special permission because we know what's best for you' states, I'm surprised it's legal to have a scanner in your vehicle (maybe it isn't unless you have credentials).

I know what you meant, but I had to quote this! :flame:

Back on topic, Hedgehog the scanner looks good there! That's awesome you are on a volunteer fire department.

After the High Park Fire here in Fort Collins last summer, I have a new respect for wildland firefighters. The terrain they have to battle fires on can be ridiculous!

Might not be, lol. Arrest me. :)

Well, it did look good in there. Was just wiring it, but apparently it doesn't like my 4runner's electrical system, and started chooching smoke. Yanked the whole dash out immediately, still smoking. Smelled funky while I was doing the wiring, I looked up and there was smoke. So, this project is on hold until I figure out a plan B.
